Default BF2142 Tech Support - including Vista issues

In addition to our Knowledge base issues, I have compiled a short list of known fixes for some common issues in game. If anyone would like to add to this, please do!

Game map won't load and game hangs
Ok, the default folder as you know is C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142. Get to this folder, then click "Tools" and the "Folder options". Now click "View" and make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button is ticked, then scroll down a little further and make sure that "Hide Protected Operating System Files" is UNTICKED!!!

press ok >

you will see a file called 'radial.cdb' >

rename to 'oldradial.cdb' to force a re-download of ads.

problem gone.

Vista issues. Hotfix for Nvidia cards
Download Vista Hotfix

I had this problem and found out that i had not activated the game on the EA store site using the serial code they provided. It took me hours to figure this out because the activation link is hard to find on the site and i wasnt directed to it during the installation process like what happens in most normal game installations...

Hey guys, ok this is my basic story, dad went to meeting with EA Canada came back with the game Battlefield 2142 for Free as a gift. Our PC was running on the NVIDIA Geforce 4 but lately we put the Geforce 6600 back in, Battlefield 2 works (crashes after an hour or two gameplay), but Battlefield 2142 I accidentally patched to version 1.40 (the beta), when finding out 1.40 was not he official patch (EA downloader wasnt finding anything, just blank so i was forced to find patches via google.com) I reinstalled and patched to 1.25, unfortunately PB started kicking me after lets say a few mins of gameplay, but gave no reason. So I re-installed the game again, used RegiCleaner to remove all traces of Battlefield 2142 and deleted all config files, profiles and screenshots etc... patched to 1.25 again and the same issue, PB kicks me and gives no reason, just a blank message box.

someone please help me here!!! Because this is getting annoying!

You need to go to the punkbuster site and download their updater.......which will update your game and stop you being kicked.
It annoyed the heck out of me too until I did that............no more kicks after that....lol

i just downloaded the deluxe version of off the EA downloader manager today, and i went though all of the steps to install it. the problem is that whenever i try to log in, it says "The CD key has already been registered with an account". however i used the right email address when i entered the activation code. it also said to "Ensure the checkbox next to your 2142 Persona is checked" but this part never showed up when i was activating it

KingMuffin21...I hope some of this might help you.

If you need to retrieve your lost Registration Code. Login to EA.com. https://jump-subs.ea.com/SubscribeEntry.jsp?iPath=3 You must first know your account and password. The member name is the (EA Classic Screen Name). You will need to login in. It will ask you to re-type your password. After you get in you will need to click on the My Games tab. It will give you a list of all your EA games that you registered to that account with the registration codes. This will tell you if the game was successfully tied to your EA Master account account. (Note: It will not show the NS expansion because it is tied to the EA Master account and not the game.)

If you need to switch persona's; go here EA - Action, Fantasy, Sports, and Strategy Videogames
  1. Use the login button in the upper right hand coroner.
  2. After you log into the account click on your name their it should have a drop down menu. click on the My account section.
  3. Now click Persona's. In here it should list (EA Classic Screen Name), (Battlefield Persona (Which is the BF2142 Soldier Persona)), and a (BF2 Soldier Name (If you have one that is tied to the same EA master account.)) This is were you can select which persona to use.
Here is something if the EADM asking to verify ownership.:
Electronic Arts has updated its account management system. To ensure that all of your proper entitlements have been added to your new account, they will all need to be linked properly. To link your old EA account to your new EA account, perform the steps listed below:
  • Go to EA - Action, Fantasy, Sports, and Strategy Videogames
  • Click the Login button at the top right of the screen.
  • Click on Screen Name Login in the Don't have an email login?section.
  • Enter your classic screen name and password in the Upgrade your account section.
  • You will be brought to a list of names related to the email address associated with your classic account. Click the check box next to each name you wish to upgrade, and enter the password associated with each screen name.
  • Enter the required information and agree to the Terms of Service.
Once you agree, your chosen screen names will be upgraded to EA's new account system.

i checked in the My Games tab, and it isnt listed there. i clicked the register game button and entered the regristration code (im assuming that it is the same thing as the activation code) but it said that the code was used previously
EDIT: i looked at the support page and it said when entering the cd key, dont use the dashes, but when i entered mine in, i used them and it accepted it

Default Recognize disc

I installed and updated 2142 on vista but I was getting kicked by punkbuster so I uninstalled and reinstalled and tried again but the porb was still there. I looked online and I was reading that I may have to update punkbuster manually so i tried that but there was a really bad guide and I think I messed something up there so I unistalled and reinstalled again and it was still messed up. I looked online again and got a better guide and found I needed to change my admin privlages and update punkbuster by downloading it, adding the games to the list and then checking for updates again so now I have all that done but now it wont recognize the disc so I was wondering if anyone knows anyway to fix this.

PS I have a Japanese OS so please be spacific. thanks

I am sorry that I was not much help for you . You might need to email the EA Support. Tell them exactly what is wrong and see if they will help you.

But first.:
Check this and see if it is what you might have done.: EA Support=
Or you can check this one.: EA Support=

If neither; then use that site and email them for help.

I am not sure about deleting them I know that you can link them when you log into the EA Store and select my account. Most persona's are deleted by deleting the soldier I think; with the exception of the EA Classic screen name.

I think that is because the download version do not use a cd-key. They get registered differently.
I think what you need is a DEV or EA person to help you with this. From what I know is that the downloads get registered to the Email address using an activation code during the checkout process. And every time that you download it from the site you need to be logged into that Email account. It will check during the download that the account you are using has the code tied to it. At least that is how it is for my NS expansion. If you watch the download bar from the EADM you will see it filling up; and when it gets near the end it will briefly say something like "checking activation code" and "Decrypting". I can't remember the exact words they use but that is sort of what it is. Then it will have an arrow for install with a different color.

I would suggest making a ticket with the EA support site for this issue. I am at a loss for this problem.

hi king muffinand all vista battlers
I had the same probs and after extensive searches it boils down to this Battlefront 2142 was not made for vista (we All know this) so when you load the game afresh don't load
Northern Strike it causes lag ,delay and phasing it's a pain because some of the missions are ace. Secondly load the patches and beta and Lastly from your desktop start PLAY AS ADMINISTRATOR I do this and no probs , so Hopefully I'll see you all there

I was enjoying playing on Vista x64 mcatak (with NS) but you're right mate I've given up trying to get the mike working under Vista and dual-booting to XP to play it from now on

I had to re-download everything again from XP but it all went ok after downloading the EA Downloader and someone heard me on VOIP in a quick tester. Woot

Hello all, I've been scouring the EA sites today because I've a problem with my BF 2142 Deluxe Edition but I'm talking to customer support and getting that fixed. However I still have a problem. See I created my oringinal BF 2142 Persona with an old email, and now I have a new one. My EA account and everything is set to this new email, everything but my BF 2142 Persona. So I logged into BF 2142 and tried to change the email in game. No luck as the email is greyed out and un-typable (still has the old email) what should I do?

I want to change it for the sake of having all my EA stuff on one email. Right now for example my retrieve info is set to that old email and I want it changed but don't know how to. Any help?

You can try this.

Electronic Arts has updated its account management system. To ensure that all of your proper entitlements have been added to your new account, they will all need to be linked properly. To link your old EA account to your new EA account, perform the steps listed below:
  1. Go to EA - Action, Fantasy, Sports, and Strategy Videogames
  2. Click the Login button at the top right of the screen.
  3. Click on Screen Name Login in the Don't have an email login? section.
  4. Enter your classic screen name and password in the Upgrade your account section.
  5. You will be brought to a list of names related to the email address associated with your classic account. Click the check box next to each name you wish to upgrade, and enter the password associated with each screen name.
  6. Enter the required information and agree to the Terms of Service.
  7. Once you agree, your chosen screen names will be upgraded to EA's new account system.
Let me know if it helps.

If that did not work then you can try this method.:
Linking Persona's to same email address.
  1. Go to this site.: https://profile.ea.com/login.do?surl...CEM-JIVEFORUMS
  2. Log-in in the upper right coroner using either your email address or EA Classic Screen name.
  3. In the upper right will be your name to the left of the login button. Click it to bring the drop down menu.
  4. Select My Account from that menu.
  5. Click on the Persona's to view your persona's.
  6. Now click on the tab that says Link An Existing Persona.
  7. Go through the steps and you should now have you other account linked to the same Email address.
I know for sure that this method will link all the account persona's to the same EMail address. I have used this before and it shows my EMail address having two (EA Classic Screen name) persona's tied to the one EMail address.
