Do you have a router? That would have a firewall too.
Otherwise it could just be a temporary problem with the accounts server.

Thanks m8 for replying!!!!!!

Yeah I have the standard Virgin router but I've never had any problems before with other games... Pulling my hair out trying to sort this out, my son has been looking forward to this game for months, so he isn't best pleased...

I have run out of ideas as too out else I can try...

Can anyone think of anywhere else I could go for help?

Default I need help on this problem

Ok, first thing.. what is the newest patch that works on BF 2142 and ALLOWS ME TO PLAY ON MULTIPLAYER, I tried installing patch 1.50, it gets through the actual download, I hit "RUN" and a few moments later, a small black screen pops up for 1 second, then dissapears. Then I get on 2142, log in, go to multiplayer and there are NO matches up.. I go to the filters and uncheck same version and they all pop up..I tried to join a match like this and it said "your client is older..". Please help.

It is best to have a windows administrator account, and turn off User Account control if you are using vista.

I really hope someone can help me with this problem, as whenever i submit a question to EA via the support section, it simply gets deleted and i get no reply.
I played 2142 when it first came out, but i haven't played for atleast a year.
I've just totally upgraded my PC, and i decided to install 2142 again.
Everything is fine, until i try to log on.
I get the error message "The CD key is already registered with an account".
I am the only person who has ever used this copy of the game. I am DEFFINATELY using the correct login details, i have confirmed them via account name and password recovery e-mails. I have tried every 'solution' i can find on the internet, and nothing has worked.
Please do not try telling me to check my login details or check my CD key or anything like that, i have been trying to solve this problem for several days now, i can not see this having such a simple solution.

You say that you have confirmed them via the password recovery?
When you reinstalled the game; after it is installed when the registration comes up. Do you go through the registration process again and use the same info up to were it shows you your personal info and then says already registered and then hit done to close it?

When i go on the registration page, after confirming that it has my details right, i press next, then it tells me i have an invalid registration code, then tells me my CD key is either invalid or has already been used.

Edit (adding more): I just bought and downloaded northern strike (i bought it when it came out, but it wasn't showing on my EA link, so i had to buy it again) thinking that maybe i would need my game to be in the exact same state as it was when i last logged on successfully.
But when i press 'Activate' on EA link and enter my CD key from the 2142 box, i get that same message "The CD key is already registered with an account".

Default Game crashes on award screen

Hi.

I have just bought a new pc, with Vista.

I have installed 2142 and played, no problem.

Gone to the BFHQ to check my Awards. When I click on a badge, for example, the game immediately crashes to desktop.

Any ideas why ?

Unfortunately the only way to fix the BFHQ awards crash is to re-install the game and patch with 1.40 before 1.50.
Basically the 1.50 patch does not work properly for some people.
What operating system are you using? xp/vista 32/64

My OS is Vista64.

I need to load on NS, so it looks like I'll have to do the 1.40 and then the 1.50 patch routine anyway. Do I need to load the full 1.50 or can I just do the incremental patch ?

BF2142 > 1.40 > NS > 1.40 > 1.50 (full or incremental)

I'm no expert, but I suspect your on board graphics chip is your problem.

Quote:
(128 MB memory and NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or ATI Radeon 8500 chip set or better)
I couldn't run BF2142's demo on my Intel on board chip (and therefore, the retail game had I purchased it at the time), due to not having hardware T&L support or pixel shader support on my intel chip. I reckon it's the same here, and that you need a newish graphics card.

Other than the GFX card, you've got a decent PC there (much better than mine!)

You are right ZonalFear. The on-board Graphics Chip is that persons issue. The person needs something better to run the game. So he would need to go out and buy a Graphics card for his PC. If it is a laptop then he would most likely need to get a new laptop that has a better GPU in it, as many laptops can not be upgraded easily.

The issues you explain sound like driver issues. You may need to do a clean install of them. Redownload the lastest driver from Nvidia. Then uninstall the driver making sure to completely remove every part of the driver. You can try something like DriverSweeper to remove the driver. Just be careful to not remove the other drivers that you need just remove the video driver.

You could try turning the AA off for some of the issues. But the 8800GT should be able to handle 2x AA.
Also look to see what your temps are for the card. You can try GPU-Z to see if they are getting high. High temps can also cause some of the issues that you explain. If this i s the case let us know and we can go from their with some suggestions for you after finding out how your rig is set up.

The only fix I have found for this issue is to do a complete reinstall of the game. I had this a few weeks ago. For me it would happen whenever I looked at the any other award besides the pins in the game.

I did my install in this order. Which seems to work the best for me.
BF2142 core game, Patch 1.40, NS, Patch 1.40, Patch 1.50.

As people have already mentioned, it's likely to be ur graphics card. However definately update ur directx, tbh the 2142 install should have prompted you to install DX9.. Install dx, see what happens

Default Unable to connect online

Heya
I purchased Battlefield 2142 over a year ago, and during that time had to reformat my computer and I lost the installation in the process. I only reinstalled the game today and because it had been so long I had to install the most recent patches. I've just finished the long wait and tried to play online but with every server I connect too I am told that I havea modified version of Battlefield and I need to revert to the original version in order to play. How can I revert back to this 'origional version?' Also, its worth saying that even though i bought this game legitimatly, I lost the activation code over the year and had to use a keygen to reinstall it. Could this have affected it? I can't see how it could have, but anyway, please can you help me work out how to revert to the original version so I can play online.

Cheers

Default help with deluxe edition on vista ?

hey guys, am a bit of a noob at this, i just got myself a new laptop with vista home premium on it, i just bought bf2142 deluxe edition from the shops and thought great it has also got a booster pack with it which i thought it would work great on my shiney new laptop lol but i have been having problems

Anyways heres my problems, i installed (and uninstalled a few times) the the game, eventually found the patch update for the game as i was alerted there was one when i was loggin in, but couldnt get to it from the log in screen as i am not EA LINKED (what ever that is, as there seems to be little info on how to or what it even is), have updated to the 1.50 patch, now when i try to join a multiplayer game i get kicked off, i am assuming it ilalalalala buster kickin me out of the game, as it notifies me that there is a pb communication problem(cant remember the exact code that comes up) just before i am kicked and then at the server screen there a box up that saylalalalalabuster and i have to click ok, i updated manually from evenbalance thinkin that would solve the problem but to no avail

Also clicking on a game on the NS maps on multiplayer it says i have to buy the boosterpack to play on the map, but that already comes with the deluxe edition and asks you to install it when you install bf2142.

Can anybody help me please as i am out of my depth, and all i want to do is play the game !

P.S game works ok in single player and what the hell is ealink and how do i join/download

thanks for any help

See if your anti-virus or firewall software has a special mode for gaming, and if so put it in that mode.

It's something that has caused some people to get kicked in the past, so I'm throwing it out there.
