Can't get Northern Strike to run right?

The procedure was amply documented in the old threads, but here it is for future reference:

- install the game
- install the 1.25 patch (or rather latest released patch, at the time of writing 1.25)
- install Northern Strike
- REINSTALL the 1.25 patch!
- go to http://www.evenbalance.com and download the Punkbuster updater and run it manually.

That solves it for the vast majority of people.

(hopefully this will keep the amount of "help, NS won't work" threads to a minimum...)

Also please note that for a few hours after the new online EA Store was launched there were issues with Northern Strike purchases, however they should now be resolved automatically with no action required by affected players. Of course, if you're still having issues with your Northern Strike in spite of this info and the post above, EA Tech Support will be able to help and look into the purchase on your account.

I installed NS without issue, but when I went into BF2142 the NS booster pack was not recognized and I could not join any NS games.

I had to go to : http://www.ea.com/ealink/

at the very bottom of the page there is this text:

"To redeem an EA Link code, enter it here: "

And enter the key that I obtained in my e-mail when I purchased Northern Strike from the EA link store.

This registered Northern Strike to my account and I was then able to use it (once I installed it) in BF2142.

Yes, that is also an important fact, one has to be registered with EA's servers as a legitimate NS owner. It's tied to the account.

This is obviously because the NS install itself is just a normal setup file and otherwise anybody who got a hold of the NS installation file could just up and play the NS maps and content. The servers keep track of that and prevent non-paying customers from accessing that.

Since people can only download the NS booster pack online via EA's software using either a credit card or the prepaid code, the vast majority of people won't encounter that, I'd wager.

lorcro2000, I did indeed login to EAlink and download the game there after purchasing it. But for whatever reason, the NS purchase did not register under my EA account. Thats why I used the redeem function to relink it to my EA account. Would a normal download with EA link automatically register the game to your account?

I bought a pre-paid code (ie a box off the retailer shelf with the EA Link code) and then logged in on EA Link, redeemed the code and downloaded the setup program, so I didn't need to do anything more than that. No idea what happens with online purchases, but at least now people know what to do if it happens to them.

Hi i have copy and paste my registration code from my E-mail order in to EAlink then press submit, then Game Activation screen came up and i paste the registration code under game code then press submit and get a Invalid registration code.....

What am i doing wrong???

Actual account related etc questions are probably best handled by contacting EA support directly. Only they can look into their own servers and see what is going on and verify your code, not a lot we mere mortals here can do, I fear. There's a support link right up on top of this page.

I bought NS as a DVD box pack, installed it and cant play on NS.
I have re-installed the patch and this still didnt work.
As I dont have a CD, I can't re-install NS.

I have asked EA support for help, but have received no response after 5 days.

Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. I wish EA were as helpful as this forum.

hey i been having Problems playing battlefield 2142 booster pack.i install it but it still say you need the booster pack and i activate it and it still didn't work so i don't what going please help?.

i have tried all the methods that have been mentioned above
i installed the patches 1.25 like they said
didn't do the punk buster thing cause it doesn't even recognizes the norther strike that i have installed

i redeemed my key in the beginning to begin downloading it from the ea link so i don't need to do it again.

and still to no avail
it doesnt let me play can anyone help me
as for the EA SUPPORT TEAM U GUYS ARE AS USELESS AS 1 year old i wasted my money buying this and you guys cant even bother helping us out

I had this problem only to find out i hadn't registered my NS on the EA site...I found the EA Download Manager process very inexplanitary and had to hunt through the EA site to find where to activate NS using the ns serial code... All said i found this a whole lot of hassle and i wouldnt recommend using EA's download service to anyone....

spent about a whole day on and off, trying to get northern strike to activate/register. finally got that sorted, but now when i try to play assault lines on multiplayer, it requests me to buy northern strike from ealink! ***!?

its just getting tedious!

ok guys i think im in a little deep .... i instalt ns whit the prepaid code in tath boxs and in deletet after a few weeks the wole bf2142 serie. now i instalt bf2142 agian and i want to play ns but if i want to download him he says the code is already in use how do i can play ns agian.

You should log in with your username and password and NS should then be available for you to download without a code. You only need to fill in the code for NS one time, after that it is tied to your user account, as far as I know.

This should be updated for the patch 1.40 because it seems that if you try to use 1.25 and 1.40 together that it messes everything up. Using 1.40 works great for getting NS to work. You still have to do it before and after it.

ok this could be it but i also deletit ea link and now ea has no more ealink as far as i know i tryed also to download im from my bf2142 but wen i click a server thath is running bf2142 ns he says buy ns from ea link.

Have you checked in your cached folder location for the NS setup file. Their is a cached folder for the EADM that holds the setup file. This is where you can go to save a copy of the NS installer after you download it. Go their and see if it is still their; if not try the question below.
Have you tried to reinstall the EADM?

i have bf 2142: 4.0 and after the ea link downloads NS it asks me to download the new patch so i dowload the 4.0 again and i do not know where my NS game is when i go to play on bf it is just the old version

Ea has a huge problem imo, all theire sites are badly connexted, just like getting from here(the forums site) to a game site, from the game site to the ealink site, from there to duty site etc etc etc. its all just a mishmash of sites, each offering different things. Like, why for instance isnt the ns activation link _EVERWHERE_?
