One of my clan mates was browsing through the server list and found something interesting:

their probably testing something for bf2. saying that the 2142 icon is present. i doubt they are going to add the custom map version of karkand into 2142.

Trust me, it's not karkand. 2142 doesn't have the objects to make a decent version of it without dice adding all the objects from bf2 into the map.

Why would Combat Testers be testing something for BF2 now? One of the testers Kharak (Kharak (kharak0)) doesn't even play BF2 but has 767 hours of 2142.

Yeah I saw the CT clan tags and had a look on bf2 also. Server only shows up in 2142, try asking them via buddy request

Somehow I don't think they'd say much. Considering the maps had code names for the last patch this looks like somebody just messed up.

The three versions of karkand I have seen for 2142 are:

bf2 version which conflict 2142 had in their mod (direct copy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aliuFekAhAk)

A map which was being made by a mapper called falcon which never saw the light of day as far as I'm aware, looked promising. Originally on total gaming network 2142 section (first 8 pages have been edited with lol owned) http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/sh...strike+karkand

oh god i hope they dont put karkand in

it was god awful in bloody bf2 let alone 2142

oooh look corridor streets and high buildings for snipers and fcall place for vehicles
hence why the bf2 community moaned for an infantry only mode so they could aimbot and snipe to their hearts content - pah i hope kackend isnt one of the new maps wat a shame there are plenty of other BETTER classic maps to be had

jason brice was known by the name of falcon then on tgn forum? Falcons version of karkand was being made 3 years ago, unless that was jason brice who then finished the map and held off releasing it, I very much doubt it will make a suprise visit to ranked 2142 servers.

5 new maps in the 1.51 patch beta testing and one of them is Strike at Karkand, BF2142 era

P.S. They fixed the starboard gun on the EU transport

So can you think of another reason why Combat Testers are playing a Karkand map on 2142 on a Dice test server the same week patch 1.51 beta testing started?

There's 3 of those servers, one has a map called Yellow Knife.

Thank you to Jason Brice for fully rebuilding Karkand into Battlefield 2142 in such a way that you know the map and the layout but with a 2142 twist.

Yeah I was 99% convinced that it wasn't for 2142. Just goes to show you can never be to sure about something unless you know for definite.

one wonders if this is a strategic move from dice to get the BF2 guys to move to 2142 once and for all and allow them to have their "security blanket".
