I can't play since about 1 week. This is a joke, a company which claims to be professional should fix this ASAP or deal with the idea of losing customers.

It has to be punkbuster, unless your computer has an UBER good Graph card, and processor which can throw away the bad code and just run the good (or just has enough brute force to ignroe the bad code) your gonna have ti wait until punkbuster autoupdates again. But the Thing is, I also play Americas Army and there are no problems there (and also BF 2)

Can you inform ppl how this is done?

Default Freezing

Specs are as follows
2 machines
machine one
asus kva8 motherboard
1.5 gig mem 400mhz
4xsata 80 gigs
ac97 codec sound drivers on built in MB
Nvidia 5700 128mb GFX card

games ran great till PB updated then always Freezing

Machine 2
asus ga8 MB
1.5 gig mem
4xsata 80 gig HD
nvidia fx 5700 256mb GFX card
ac97 codec sound drivers on board again

Both machines are on a 20mb download 1mb upload internet connection

This machine flew along great till PB update

At this rate EA should offer a refund part or full or get rid of PB as its crippling everyones game that we buy to play not buy to watch it die on us

if i ever see a EA game using PB i will not buy it (FACT)
apart from PB rubbish i cant fault EA games

Stop having a go at PB, it isnt all bad, they didn't do a bad job with America's Army (which I play and havent had many issues that lasted long with) and all the BF games (except this possible problem with 2142)

I take it you work for PB then

I still back my last post PB as caused nothing but trouble for a lot of people i understand that it does cut down on the cheating side of things but when no one can play the game with it installed why use it

Sorry if this sounds harsh but think about it carefully you payed £40 for the game £10 for ns and you cant do nothing with it but watch your comp freeze all the time is it fair on those of us who cant afford £50 each time a game comes out even worse for those who have nothing but hastle from it
sorry but i still say PB has crippled our gameplay

anyway this is not the place to argue over PB we should be in the other thread

Sorry guys for posting here can Homer please move it to the correct thread further down the line thank you

I just wanted to announced it..

I wanted to buy BF2142 trough EA Link (EA Downloader formerly) and ran into wall on very first click.. "You need Windows XP or newer"..

WHAT THE HELL?? Windows 2000 can do everything XP can, except displaying fancy Cleartype fonts.. I am using W2k for certain reasons (Vista and XP does not support certain SCSI device I need)

Sounds very much like artificially created problem in favor of Microsoft..

At least LET ME INSTALL this EA Link, I can deal with possible problems on my own..I suspect, there isnt any, except Cleartype or missing skinning engine

Same problem I did everything under the sun to fix it.

Delete the Radial.cdb, the file was only visable through Winrar though.

this game is intolerable i have had the freezing problems for almost a month there has been no reply from EA for ages just wondering if u are going to do anything about it i was wondering if EA was going to do anything about it as it is only a small amount of people who have the problem the only thing i have seen EA do is praise themselves for making the new tampa map which is rather pointless as we cant play the game at all get your priorities sorted out EA and fix this crash error or u will start losing customers no doubt

Deleting Radial.cdb solved my initial problem when my system was at my parents, played it for a couple of days at their house great, Came back to my own house plugged my computer in started up 2142, and now I have a punk buster problem, 'important restriction: punkbuster b handshaking failed.
I don't know if this is related to my initial problem with the map freeze, or it has something to do with my IP address change, I'm not that clued up on this sort of thing. Has anybody else moved their sytems physically and gone through a different ISP, just wonding if this might be the cause of the map freeze of punkbuster problems.

Intel Core 2 6700
2GB Crucial RAM
NVIDIA 8800 GTX

Started freezing in May after about 5 mins game play. Totally fed up with EA and their buggy, overpriced games

I DID IT!!!!!!
i finally managed to get BF2142 working on my computer

It isnt punkbuster or the 1.25 update that is the problem. It is actually a windows update that coincided with said update. I system restored my computer because of a virus, and lo and behold, 2142 now works. If you cba to take such drastic measures to get the game working, fine, cos i have no idea which windows update it was that causes the problem. Try doing the following:

uninstall BF2142
uninstall ALL windows updates, every single one, dont leave any at all, it cant do that much harm, when your computer was brand new it worked fine right?
reinstall bf2142
reinstall 1.25 patch (or other latest patch because i know that my BF2142 didnt work with 1.20 patch either when i downgraded)

change some graphics settings and start up the multiplayer server you wish

HAVE FUN!!!!

hope i helped

Activision all the way. EA games are the only variety of games where I have graphical / other technical problems with. My games range from CoD1/2 & BF1942/VTNM/2/2142 to RTS games like Medieval 2. It appears that with every EA/DICE game I buy, there are technical issues. Where as in CoD2 I run everything in highest graphics with my own custom config etc no problems what so ever, every patch just makes my experience more fun. Seriously rethink your partners in future games please EA!
