Don't advise people based on your inexperience. As for PB: what happens every once in a while is that we 'lose' keypackets. This never happened before the patch. |

Punkbuster isnt responsible for moving you to the other team whilst in game. This is done by the game/server, it is one of the server options "Autobalance on/off".
As for losing points after being moved, this does not happen. You will keep any points that you have gained once you are switched teams. The points gained will continue to increase when you are on the new team.

I have tryed deleteing and reinstalling Punkbuster, and im pretty sure that my firewall is set to let it past. Any help would be great. |

I've just received an update pbcl.dll file from EB to try. If anyone wants to try it as well I've put it here:
www.jlmay.f2s.com/pbcl.rar You place it in the PB directory - \Battlefield 2142\pb It overwrites an existing file so maybe worth renaming the old file 1st

Guys, if you have DEP turned off, turn it back on. My game has not crashed since I turned it back on.
UPDATE: I did get another sound looping, but I was able to recover fully and continue playing on in the same server.

I don't know whether this is a permanent solution, but in vista even if the firewall is off there are still some programmes blocked.
Make sure your windows firewall if off and make sure any other firewalls allow bf 2142 and the punkbuster files. But then go into the exceptions to the windows firewall and check the punkbuster files. Worked so far for me! |

im getting narked now, i cannot play more than 10-15 mins without a kick from pb or a freeze, no way on this planet this game can freeze my pc graphics i have is a nvidia 8600 gtx and i run a amd 3600+ duel core 64.
i get invalid memory, invalid screen image or packets lost and bang, good night viena. am i being punished by pb/dice cos i spent money so my graphics are as crisp as a nut, i think its about time you stopped messing with little things and notice how so many ppl can somehow see around corners and how others no matter how they twist twizzle and spiral through the air or running away can 1 hit head shot u. |

I just hope that i've not reinvented the wheel but i couldn't find the solution for this on the net, so i just thought you might be intrested (since your reading this article
).Symptom: Crash after ten-fiften minutes in Vista, giving an errorbox from punkbuster saying 6009: Ignoring Queries. Reason: It seems like MS released to new sets of windows defender updates. one on 30may and one on 1june. Tried to shutdown defender and it worked for me. Not a recommended solution though. Suggestion on solution: Control-Panel, windows defender, tools, alternative, go down until the box: "do not search through the following files and folders", add, *installation dir for bf2142*... well... and finally ok, i guess. (loosly translated) Consequence: The game started to crash irregularly with approx an hour between, but i think that is something else. And i quess that you would open up this dir to all the ghostpeckers on the net... Bettter than opening everything by shutting down defender. *sighs* now all thats left is the memory error in titan mode, hope that the extra ram will work, i mean seriously... if it runs ut at 4gb ram i'll honestly have to reconsider. :P That is all! Questions?

Guys (and gals),
I had freezing/crashing/kicking problems a little while back, posted loads of info trying to help EA/PB to identify the problem... no results, no help. I eventually got rid of my isssues! I can confirm (for me) that it was definitely Punkbuster (after screwing around with reinstalling everything). What I did... (note: each URL links to a diffrent tool or process) 1. Make sure you completely uninstall punkbuster (use the PBSVC tool on evenbalance.com), and then remove all other traces of punkbuster from your system (files in BF2142/PB and Pnk*.exe System32 directory, PnkBstr Services, registry entries, etc). Search these and other forums for instructions, they are out there. 2. Then... install PB using the automated PBSETUP install from evenbalance.com, select your game (BF2142, BF2, CoD, etc) then update the files accordingly - WAIT, make sure this completes fully! Check that you have PnkBstrA.exe & PnkBstrB.exe, and that they run as services, and are unblocked by your firewall. 3. Reboot your pc... not optional 4. Try the game. (mine didn't work the first time, but a friends did) 5. If it still doesn't work, go back and try the PBSVC tool again (install this time - you can also Test the services) or evenbalance.com and follow the instructions for manually updating PB for BF2142. The PnkBstrA & B are the most crucial parts to ensure they are in the right place, and running correctly as services - hint: run the exe's directly if you must. PnkBstrB does not have to run automatically, when you start BF2142 it should start it - hint: check this by running Task Manager whilst running BF2142. Since doing this (2 weeks ago) I have had zero problems! No freezes, no crashes, no unexplained kicks. Perfect BF2142, hour after hour... I know you're jealous Stick with it, I was just as frustrated and angry with EA/PB, but patience got me through this... as it can for you too.Hope this helps, good luck! Teg.

the only thing that is really getting on my nerves while playing is, every first run of 2142, i join a server, play for around 5-10mins, then my movement (everything) mouse, kb, etc goes all jerky like net lag, other players appear to jerk around too, as do vehicles, this lasts for at least 5minutes or so, then it smooths out and is fine for the rest of the round, the round after that is fine and so is the round after that....etc
this always happens after every fresh launch and join of a server, but only once, its very annoying. I hate punkbuster, i have no problem with it catching cheaters, the occasional kick but lagging my game is just gay.

please get this PB Scanning HDD Lag/Stuttering Fixed ASAP! it's really annoying, it affects BF2 as well. Haven't tried FarCry to see if it stutters in that..will post back if it does, if not then it must be either the BF games or PB!
Edit, well farcry plays fine online with pb and no random lag/stuttering. Sort it out please!
