Default Please have a BF2 STEAM sale on COD:MW2 Release day

Please.

I have friends who would buy BF2 in a heartbeat over COD:MW2 if BF2 was priced a little cheaper.

It's going for $10 (not sure how much if going through steam). They really cannot afford that?

Note: I am rounding up on all this.

They (Steam) have it for $30 US Dollars.

The EA Store has it for $24 US Dollars, but that is a promo price as its original price is the same. $30 US Dollars The same as steam.

Now keep in mind this is for the Complete Collection.

If just want the BF2 game without Special Forces you can get it for $10 US Dollars. Yet the EA Store has a promo price for $8 US Dollars.

You can also get the Special Forces for $10 Us Dollars just like the core game. Which is also on a promo for $8 US Dollars.

So it is cheaper to by them separately from the EA Store than buying the Complete collection from the EA Store. You do not have to worry about the Armor Fury or Euro Forces any more.

Steam will not have the single BF2 core game nor BF2 Special Forces expansion. They only have the Complete collection. So there is really no other alternative to get it cheaper from them. Which seems to be the reason behind this person asking them to put it on sale.

What about BF2 deluxe? The complete collection was priced to include the boosters which are now free, the deluxe version was priced only for the base game and SF which I got for $20 off the self of some store.

What they are asking is very steep considering you are only paying for BF2 and Special Forces now. Should be 20$ at most, 15$ would make it a bargain and boost sales.

BF2 Complete (BF2, SF, EF, AF, HT and OBP) is available to download from both Steam and Xfire Game Store for £14.99 in UK - very reasonable imho.

That may be reasonably in "Everything's Overpriced Great Britain" but it is quite expensive and dare I say rip off in America. Everything on that list is free except for BF2 and Special Forces.

Usually PC games run about $49.99 here in the US, when they are new.

Right now the games original price in the US is $29.99 which the euros should convert over to about €20.21 or so.

since your location says the Netherlands, if you were to use the NLG instead of the EURO it would cost you about ƒ66.09, which seems to look like a lot.

The price you are seeing could be a promo price. Which version of BF2 is it?

When I convert the price of a new game(40 euro) it would have cost 88 NLG today:-)
I can rember that games where around 40 NLG back in those days.
The 14,95 euro is for the complete edition.

you can get BF2 for $9 in US (non-steam). it's just that EA is ripping people off through steam.

It's not a EA thing, it's just most games on Direct download sites including steam sell for stupidly high prices for what you get regardless of how old or new the game is.

It's really no different then iTunes and such.... 99 cents for a single song
in lossy MP3 format.

No case, no booklet/manual.... no nothing and the companies pocket
the money they would have usually spent on packaging, shipping...etc

the prices on steam and d2d are set by the game publishers, not steam/d2d. if they want to sell it for cheaper, they can do so anytime.

Forget downloading BF2, it's been up on Amazon (UK), for anything between £6 and £9 for the last few months!
Yes it's the complete collection too. You would have to D/L patch 1.50 of course.

ATM it's £7.09 free p&p ---- > Battlefield 2: The Complete Collection (PC DVD): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

Ahh - the Steam weekend special!

Picked up TF2 for £2.49 a couple of weeks a go and Arma2 was £14.99 = just got to keep an eye out.

I take your point Skankwon - there are a fair few retailers selling it cheap but the fastest way for EA/DICE to get a few more players in (read sales) was to up it to the digital stores.

In all honesty I think we've pretty much got all the players we're ever going to get - but then a slow, slow decline is better than the abrupt end we've seen with some other titles.

Back on topic - a Steam sale is a nice idea - if only so that EA/DICE can blog up a little more rivalry with Actizzard and rub their noses in it.

Although I suspect that IW couldn't care less - they'll still sell bucket loads of MW2 to the console types.

Well thanks to COD:MW2 being released without any dedicated servers and also with a restriction to 9 v 9 players per map, myself and many of my friends have cancelled our pre-orders for the game.

I'm no EA fanboy, but thankgod B:BC2 is being released on PC and with dedicated servers, etc.

Having a BF2 push on the launch day might pick up a few sales, especially when people find out how lalalala COD:MW2 is going to be as an on-line multiplayer experience.
