Mine is on Ultra-High too. I'll try updating my X-Fi drivers. I don't think I've done it in a while. I know I've heard the reverb before but it's definitely not there at all for me now, but again to be fair I have no idea when it stopped working. It is enabled on my soundcard and in the game. Still though, updating drivers is the first avenue of troubleshooting. Will do that and let ya know.

Ooops realised I forgot to delete the cache folder.

/me whistles

However, my Creative X-Fi doesn't sound as good as it used to either now. I'm in Game Mode and EAX selected etc. TBH I'd only just got it sorted a few weeks before 1.50 after numerous driver problems. Now I'm back where I was ...

Anyway are we not going O/T here, new thread for Creative cards perhaps anyone?

So yeh getting back to Alt-Tab fix. Make sure U delete cache folder too! lol

Hello I just wanted to say that I'm on 1.5 + ALT+TAB fix with an Auzentech X-Fi Forte sound card and I've had EXACTLY the same problem, except it happened when it was about to start loading a map.

Using X-Fi and Ultra High in options with EAX enabled. Drivers are 1.1 from 07/28/2009 released by Auzentech. The ctoss2k.sys isn't signed digitally, but it's dated 07/22/2009.

The BSOD is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x50 caused by: ctoss2k.sys... (never had any problems in other games).

Also the sound settings allowed me to set to Ultra High without problems as long as I activated Game Mode in sound control. Everything sounds fine to me, the reverb effect in the warehouse on Karkand works if EAX is turned on in the audio control panel.

I'm going to try and manually update BF2OpenAL.dll, since the one's in this 1.5 update is marked as version 2.1.8.1, but the latest version released by OpenAL is 2.2.05.

I also have the flashbang/tear-gas graphical problems. I'm on 186.82 WHQL drivers for Nvidia cards that was released by Microsoft

And, also, my CPU is an i7 on an EVGA X58 mobo with 6GB DDR3 memory and I do sometimes get random disconnects when trying to join a server or when changing maps like another user with a similar setup mentioned here

Everyone here is talkin about Alt tab Crash, i can alt tab no problem.

The problem for me is when Trying to get back IN to BF, (ie - Re-Maximise BF after minimizing it.)

My Screen goes black and my PC Freezes, i then have to Log Off Using CTRL ALT DELETE, its the only thing i can do, sometimes The task manager doesnt even come up as my resources are on 100%.

Any help?

Will the alt tab fix fix my issue?

That's exactly what everybody else who had the problem was seeing.

I was so surprised to find an official EA fix for this so quickly! The alt-tab issues with my 8800GT are no more! Thanks.

Theres been a fix for a few months now, dunno who the creator was but anyways. The problem only happens if you have AA on in your GFX settings. theres a link here if anyones having problems.
