Been on all day, mostly idle, but not kicked once since I updated the file.

Maybe your being kicked on servers that do MD5 checks.

If the server is running stock 1.50 MD5 checks you will get kicked because this is not a stock file.

Howerver, server admins should be aware about this allowing the file with the new MD5 signarure or the MD5 checks should be updated ASAP.

EDIT: Yes, you will be kicked from some servers when using this patch.
After clearing the cache and updating PB.

-___-

It creates an errormessage!

See: 1.50 error after close

I think my PC is the only one which displays that message.
Other machines suppress this error. I don't know why. And the error says: "this must me fixed" xD

RendDX9Init.cpp line 738

This is not hard to find. The programmers just need to launch Visual Studio or whatever and jump to that line. -.-

Or have you lost everything after the silent doom of DICE Canada?

Here is my screenshot:

This is NOT A FIX. It removes widescreen support, am I right?

Widescreen is supported with this fix, as well as ALT/TAB with the use of AA.

Just to be sure: are you still getting this after installing the fixed RendDX9.dll referenced in this thread?

Unfortunately, it's not that easy. This is not the same kind of information I gave them for the Alt-Tab fix. It is indeed referencing a line in a source code file, but that's coming from a debug assertion that failed, and it doesn't indicate the source of the error, but rather just the point where it was detected. The source of the problem could be in a completely different source file, 100 functions and 10000 lines away.

An investigation into the issue on a machine where it occurs would of course extract all the relevant information eventually, but it takes time and slightly more effort than just launching Visual Studio .

Most likely, you have some different setting for the default windows debugger/error handler, which is configured by this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug

What have you got in there?

I guess we have to wait until EvenBalance update their files, then we should ALL be good to go and play on our favourite servers?

Also I have to hand it to: nea_alecu, good job finding this out in the first place. Credit to the guys at DICE especially Baza (Mr Tingle - f'ing awesome name)!!

If you don't want to wait for the MD5 checksums to get updated, you can just follow step 4 on this guide: BF2 1.5 Alt-Tab Fix Through RendDX9.dll - Project Reality Forums. It should send the correct MD5sum to the server, therefore preventing the kick.

Blalalahanks a bunch DICE

Excellent work there, both nea_alecu and Baza (the programmer respectively)!

Baza, could you post a sticky thread when Evenbalance has updated Punkbuster to incorporate the new file?
And/or when and where the updated (and hopefully renamed) patch installer is available?

How about calling it 1.51 and chuck in a ranked version of Karkand Stormfront?

I installed the file, tried it out a few times then went to work. I haven't backed up my cache folder nor the .dll file. Never thought about PB kicking me to be honest. I will have a few rounds in the afternoon and see what happens.
If I do get kicked, what can I do apart from updating PB?

Works for me. Now if we can sort the problem where you loose connection between map changes EVERY TIME. This would be golden. This connection problem seems to be with those with fast hardware and lots of memory.

Two thumbs up for those that fixed the alt + Tab issue with AA on. Great stuff.

My System
Core i7 Quad
EVGA Classified X58
6GB DDR3
EVGA GTX260 w/ 190.62 drivers.
WD Raptor HD's RAID.

Found a problem.

When someone toss a flashbang, the screen instead of going white, it will keep flashing white. It's happening to me and confirmed with other 2 friends. Will try different display drivers. (Vista x64, 8800GT, 185.85)

Rename the fixed dll to RendDX9_fix.dll then reinstall the 1.5 patch. It will put back the original RendDX9.dll. You can then use the BAT files to avoid the md5 kiclalalalail the checklists are updated.

Yeah I noticed that mine flashes with horizontal bars with varying degree of flash effect. Although annoying I could care less if it ever got fixed.
