Well, i fiddled around with the settings. Since it looked normal in the screen before the weapons choice, and fine when being hit by explosives, i surmised it was a texture problem in some way.
First thing i tried was turning off AntiAlising which was set at 4x. And yes, it worked. |

2. Find BF2 folder (for Vista 32 bit -> HKEY_Local_Machine/Electronic Arts/EA Games/Battlefield 2 || This may differ a bit if you use XP or the us/german Version of Windows) 3. You have found the right folder, if you also find there more entries like "installDir" "locale" "language" and the value for "installDir" is displaying your install-directory of bf2 4. If there is a "VERSION" entry, just change the value to 1.4 and start patching again. 5. If there is NO "version"-entry, just right-klick -> select: NEW -> select: STRING 6. Name the sting as "Version" 7. Right-klick on "Version" 8. Choose "edit" 9. set the value to: 1.4 10. start patching again. should work now ;-)

I click to join any server and it crashes to desktop. I have uninstalled everything including all registries, I reinstalled in safe mode, after the complete install, and 1.41 patch was done, I downloaded 1.5 and then updated PB it installed all updates. Am I missing something???

go to options reset default button in left, then go to controls and reset those (set them back to the way you like) this should fix, i had this happen after i got a BSOD, i have been getting them after closing BF2 (attempt to write to read only) i am still trying to figure whats causing the BSOD when i exit BF2 but the reset in controls and options to default def fixes the spawn screen freezing, anyone else with the exit game Blue Screen? It also seems that BF2.exe is removed before the patch is complete, which makes me unable to play xD |

Hi,
On which partition does de the patch extract it's files? When I try to install the 1.5 patch it says that it needs 1600Mb of free space. Problem is that my C:\ partition only has 800 Mb free (partition is 10Gb). It impossible to free up anymore space on this partition because the software that has already been installed. D and E partions have 10Gb and 40Gb space free respectively. That should be enough. I placed the patch file on my D:\ partition. The game is installed on the E:\ partition. I even changed the windows temp and TMP paths to D:\ But still it says I don't have enough free space. I presume the patch insists on unpacking on the C:\ partition instead of the windows assigned TEMP/TMP folders. Too bad I can't extract the patch manually to another folder. |

Use a program like Partition Magic to transfer disk space from the bigger partitions to your C: drive.
I once did that and everything worked flawlessly within Windows and not even a restart was necessary. A rule of thumb says that you should always have at least double the amount of your RAM of free disk space on your system partition. |

You can always try different settings to see if you can find one that works. Although to be honest, it might be that it is a driver issue with the ATI Catalyst running under Windows 7 and that it will be fixed later on. Especially since it worked fine in Vista.
But then, playing at 1920x1200 without AA works fine in the meantime. Much better then water floating around everywhere.

Just talked with a friend of mine. He also has the water effect, but he uses an Nvidia graphics. Turn off AA, and it works fine sin single player.
Windows 7 Nvidia 8800GTX Driver v190.62 In multiplayer he can connect. But after getting the weapons choice screen comes up, everything goes totally black. |

To Baza
There are some problems that i have with BF2 patch 1.50 1 of the problems is when i am in a ranked server from time to time i am back in windows and the game is gone no error's its called CTD if i am correct 2nd problem using alt-tab always worked for me with this game it still works the game minimized but going back to the game will give a black screen noting works after that only pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and then press cancel and the game is gone also. i use vista 32bit sp2 i did a clean install of BF2>SF>1.41>1.5 using all the latest drivers for my 780i nforce board 15.25 and 190.62 Playing BF2142 with no problems in vista. is it a server problem that has to be fixed on the server site or is the problem in the new patch 1.5? I just saw this that my prossesor speed was going up windows was doing someting in the background. when this started i got a CTD so it could be a memory problem using 4 GB. i have installed 4x1GB and have 2x 8800GTS 512 in SLI. My reg is ok see pic.

just had a reply to a post i made at ati's forum about enabling AA on bf2
[QUOTE]Originally posted by: spyre It is disabled from the CCC on purpose for that game as it doesn't work correctly with forced AA from the CCC you get all kinds of corruption. If the ingame AA isn't working then take the matter up with EA.[QUOTE] Also if i up the graphic quality to medium in an attempt to make the game look half decent i get very strange black shadows running all over the ground, which also caused the game to make a new bf2 folder in my docs, so sorry i dont have the screen shots i made. Any chance the ati users can get a hotfix or some kind of support for this if any as everything was fine before this patch, its really hard to see people as the game is too fuzzy without the AA.
