excellent news!

just a strange thought.

i played bf1942 the day it was released all the way up until bf2 was released and i played bf2 all the way up until last year and never went back to bf2 again....the cheating was just to crazy...i tried the beta 1.5s a couple times but not enough people on multiple servers.

so what im really saying is....after this last year of heavy playing of bf2142 and really giving it a good go...i dont know if ill switch back to playing bf2 like i did from when it was released up until last year....bf2142 is really a great game....i had tried it when it was originally released and hated it....loved bf2 all the way and like i said i had to really get fed up with the cheaters in bf2 before i perm switched to bf2142....and now that i did...im not sure i will go back to bf2 as i originally played it....(not playing bf2142 AT ALL at that time.)

so for us bf2142 people can we expect anything in the near future.....can we say "Northern Strike for free?"

mwahahahaha.

Hahaha, BF2142 has Update 1.51 being made now. Whether we can do what we have done with BF2 and the boosters is another matter since it is a newer title.

You might find BF2 1.50 is a lot better than the old BF2, especially if you are used to BF2142 now. We have shared a lot of changes between BF2 and BF2142 to improve both games and balance them more evenly.

Don't rule anything out for BF2142 though.

Will there be a FULL changelog available? Or are you having trouble remembering what you've tinkered with? "Various changes to prevent cheating" doesn't tell us much - is the prone deviation issue included in this category for example?

Default Do I get my money back for Booster Packs?

Alright so here is the deal, I bought the booster's when they came out and they were what 10 bucks each? No one really played them so I only have an hour of play on EACH of the booster packs.

Hey that's 20 bucks right? It's not a gift if you already paid for it but it is greatly appreciated trust me.

Now my brother wanted to play booster's with me so I went and bought the complete collection, had boosters with it. Now please note that I already had the boosters linked to my EA account, Now I bought the boosters and Installed them and during installation you know what it said?

If you have an existing EA account please put that in, I thought something bad was going to happen but I listened since it was clearly in the install notes, So I link my account. Now I have 2 copies of each booster pack for BF2. And my account is the only one who can play them so Thanks EA !!

Im going to forget about that since your making it free with 1.50 and lets blame it on my Stupidity, good to go?

Now you have an EA store, and like I said before it's not a gift if we already paid for it. So can we get some sort of Credit in the EA store? I mean 20 bucks isn't very much but maybe we could use that to buy BF hero's tokens or another game from you guys?

If you look at it it's a win win situation, we paid you to get the boosters, your making them free, you refund our money through EA store, and we buy more of your games. Sounds good to me what about you guys?

just think about it :-)

=============
EDIT:
1. If we have serials from booster packs we should get credit.
2. If we have booster backs existing in our Download section in EADM we should get credit.

So I Have $40.00 in booster packs, I could buy another game !
============
please support this !

The closest we can get to a changelog would be at the bottom of the announcement.
We could also get the logs from Perforce but that would be a massive job in itself

I never played EF, looks like I have a reason to re-install BF2. Why hasn't DICE created their own in game anti-cheat?

No one played them? I bought them when they came out also and I have over 76 hours of play time in Euro Force and 43 hours in Armored Fury. Perhaps it was you who didn't play them? I don't recall that I was playing on empty servers. Its not EA/DICE's fault that YOU didn't play the games you purchased.

Im not complaining you missed the point of my post anyway, I should be more specific and not leave people like you out, No one in my clan at the time played them. (the people I enjoyed playing with)

Because they didn't buy them. Like I said I have only 1 hour of each so don't take it so close to heart. I didnt play them because my friends weren't playing them. READ THE CREDIT PART, will you at least agree with that?

And i never said it was EA's fault.

Cost and resources.
Running an anti-cheat system is a full time job so it makes a lot of sense for us to concentrate on making great games and allow Evenbalance to be working constantly against the cheats that appear.
They might not seem like they do much but when you consider how many hack sites there are and how big Evenbalance is, they do a pretty good job of shutting out a lot of the hacks.
Plus when you have DirectX you automatically open yourself up to hacks unfortunately.

Baza:
Why wasn't the no CD/DVD fix mentioned in the announcement today?

Will it be for the real release?

See it like this ,what price was vanilla BF2 when it was released?what is the price now a days?I Don't see nobody here asking a refund for the difference in price because it is much cheaper now..That is how business works, same with the boosters in the beginning they could ask top price cause it was a new thing, but now they come too the conclusion nobody is playing them so they make them free to atract new players who then maybe buy the original battlefield so they make money again from something that was dead before......That is just a wise business move, hope you can see that.....And really i thought on the whole forum over here I only saw one person say the same as you the other 99% just is happy to get someone too play against.

Default One .exe to rule them all!!!

Will all the boost packs be under one executable? I recall that each booster pack was under it's on executable which turn off a lot of people because in essence it was separate from BF2 (server browser was separate from BF2, etc).

I read your initial post and I don't believe I missed the point of it. You want EA to give your credit for products that you willingly paid for, using the fact that you didn't play them as a reason why they should give you credit. Perhaps you shouldn't have bought them in the first place? If game companies gave credits to people every time they dropped the price or made stuff free they wouldn't be in business very long.

I guess that 90% of all hacks are from paysites, if you could just shut down these sites you could decrease the amount of hackers with 90%...

Hahaha... man, this is the funniest thing I've read all day. Thanks for the read.

I'm in the same boat as you --- I bought the complete edition. But I don't care at all that they're free now. Just be happy that now there WILL be people playing for em.

Now, I'm going to go email the folks at Dairy Farmers and demand a refund for that bottle of milk in my fridge that I never drank after I bought it which is now so old it's probably turned into solid cream.

================================================== ==

Baz,

Just to reask the question. Can you give us some instructions on how we'll be expected to install this patch?

I'm assuming there's not going to be a reduced size patch without the booster maps for those who already have them; so, since we already have the boosters installed, will we need to uninstall them for Patch 1.50 to install? Or will the patch install over the boosters if we already have them installed?

No you dont need to uninstall them. The patch will install over. There are actually some changes to some of the EF-maps with the patch (camo humwee fix), so you will need the patch to have the newest version of the map anyway (therefore there wont be a lite version without the boosters).

An example; you dont remove Karkand either, the patch installs over it.. its the same..

But.. if it was ok in 1.41 - why it wont run on 1.5?

Task Switcher, I use it very often to change channels on Teamspeak for example.

I am realy disapointed in a few ways to important bugs arent fixed:

The TV-Bomber-Missale BUG
The Squad BUG

Otherwise nice you added new content thanks for supporting the Community. But a nearly bugfree game would be even better

- Using the ALT+TAB key combination to switch between applications may
cause problems. We do not support the use of the ALT+TAB function.

You should contact EA support or ask Baza if they can split one set of the boosters and link it to your brother's account.

After all, he's missing out the awesome medals found here:
