Default Fraps & pb

A clan mate got pb kicked for this earlier, a couple of times.

"PunkBuster kicked player '(BMP) My clan mate-UK' (for 0 minutes)... RESTRICTION: Disallowed Program/Driver [125119]"

He then turned off fraps & didn't get kicked again!

I've never heard of this one?

Can anyone shed a little light?

I have asked Evenbalance about it and will let you know their response.
Unless Fraps has a new function that is deemed cheating that I'm not aware of then Fraps should still be on their white list of applications.

A hack site released a public hack which is using the hooking method of fraps and xfire.
So they dont get kicked for gamehack because it would ban alot of innocent players. They just kick for disallowed driver now.

Quote:
Warning: PB is checking both fraps and xfire methods now. A new version of the radar will be released soon

I get kicked for a similar reason (disallowed program/driver) when I play BF2 using the steam overlay. Any plans to allow the steam overlay with punkbuster in BF2 baza?

What a bummer. I have been using a lot of Fraps lately for my games as well and I was about a to log in and play a few rounds. I guess I will have to turn it off for now.

Official response from Evenbalance

Quote:
Some new cheats are now actually hacking FRAPS in order to cheat in the game. We're trying to work with the FRAPS people right now to get this addressed. The current situation is that PB kicks for any version of FRAPS that is not the latest version or any version that has the known cheat hooks. Both Xfire and FRAPS are being used by cheat authors in attempts to hide the cheat without hacking the game or PB directly. The kicks for old versions are restriction kicks rather than cheat violations - players who get the restriction kicks should not be in danger of receiving any kind of ban. A violation kick indicates that PB found a specific cheat hook.

East Yorkshire is where its at...

This is co-incidental because a clan member was kicked for the same reason this week and turned Fraps off. All is ok now.
I run Fraps and probably had this error recently too. My latest error message from PB is this one that keeps kicking me today...

So back to the point.
Will I be able to run Fraps alongside BF2 in the future? I can't rely on Prt Scr/Sys Rq for the screenshots. Most of the time I just get a black shot.

BTW, Super Leeds United.

In the future yes you will be able to run Fraps when Evenbalance and the Fraps guys have come up with a solution.

You can also use ALT+Prt Scr
Then past pics into mspaint or something from clipboard.
