Default How To: Activate your BF2 Booster Packs

This appears to be a major problem for some people so here is a step by step guide to activating booster pack content on Battlefield 2. This guide is based on a new user with no account in Battlefield 2 or at EA.com. If you have both a Battlefield 2 (Referenced as Step 2) and EA.com account (Referenced as Step 4) then start at Step 5.
  1. Install Battlefield 2 and all booster packs you have
  2. Load the game and create your account
  3. Go to EA Video Games - Play Online PC Wii Xbox PS2 PS3 and DS Games
  4. At the bottom of the screen you will see a REGISTER option, click it and complete the details.
  5. Go to www.battlefield.com/activate and click on Battlefield 2 Complete Collection
  6. Click on the link at the bottom of the instruction guide.
  7. Add your install key into the box and submit
  8. Log in using the account you created in Step 4
  9. Go to https://account.ea.com/myacct/verify...ite=er&skin=er
  10. Login with the account you made in Step 4.
  11. Click on "Downloads Info" tab
  12. Add the soldier you created in Step 2 into the boxes and submit
  13. Your booster pack content is entitled. Go and play Battlefield 2.
This guide is for anyone that buys Battlefield 2 Complete Collection or a booster pack key (Special Forces, Armored Fury, Euro Forces) from a retailer. Buying booster packs from EA Store will entitle your account during the purchase but you will need to attach your Battlefield 2 soldier to your EA.com account (Step 5).

Note: The email address you use to purchase games on EA Store IS your EA.com account.
Linking your Battlefield 2 soldier to any other email address at EA will tell you that you need to purchase the booster packs when you try to play the maps.

Well today I decided to reinstall bf2 and thought "why not get the xpacks working properly this time round"...

For the record my install process was (using the complete collection edition)

-bf2
-sf (includes the 1.1)
-1.41
-af
-1.41
-ef
-1.41

The 1.41 between af and ef might be unneeded but I did it anyway. Naturally xpacks still didnt work, needed to be registered.

I've spent the day trying to do this. God I really really really hate ea. Ease of use just does not exist in their lexicon. (no offence intended but really, it doesn't). All the messing about with other guides went nowhere.

The closest I got was logging into ea.com with my ea account and registering bf2, then when trying to register the bonus packs it repeatedly couldnt find the web page. The above guide won't work because that download info tab doesn't exist. Maybe it exists if you've used the account to download games with the downloader. In short you've nowhere to create the soldier persona to link your ea account to. Finally found a way.

Now,
1. Make and log in to your ea.com account

2. Then go here: :: Battlefield2 ::
and click the link at the bottom

3. Enter the game code (bonus code on the back of the manual in the complete collection)

4. Enter a soldier name. When I hit ok it gave me some error 'download manager entitlement failed' or something stupid. I ignored it, entered the solder name in again and hit enter again.

5. Success. Booster registration accepted.

6. Soldier persona now appears in my ea.com account

7. Tested ingame, can get into ef and af servers now.

I'm actually going to celebrate with a few drinks now.

Best of luck, hope the same works for you.

Just did some more digging into this one with a friends account in the same situation. Seems I was correct, the downloads info only appears if u have used the downloader for something. In this case it was 2142 northern strike.

Just updated the instructions, turns out the Downloads Info Tab doesn't show there until you have done the entitlement step.

Thats a Punkbuster error: PunkBuster Online Countermeasures

9th question down on that page explains the error.

If the boosters arent showing in EADM it means the EA account you used for Euro Forces and Armored Fury is different to the one being used to log into EADM.
If you PM me the following:

Your BF2 soldier name
Your EA login (email address)

Then I'll push EA Customer Support to sort it out.

That's one of the reasons I ended up contacting ea support & had them activate the booster packs for me, shame nobody plays those maps though lol

A friend of mine tried several times to register his booster packs without success.

This is the error he gets:
Quote:
The following error has occurred:
Address Unintelligible

Explanation:
Somewhere along the way to your destination, the address (location) you were trying to get to was garbled.

How to Fix the Problem:
Your best bet is to hit the Back button on your browser and try to navigate from there. If that doesn't work, you should close your browser window, sign back on to the site, and try again.

If you get this error again, please let us know by going to:

* EA Customer Help
* Pogo Help

Please take note and let us know the steps you took to get to this page.
Back

He tried to follow EA instructions but no go. Any help?

If possible, PM me the key he has been given and the email address he is trying to assign it to.

Also is he using the correct website? www.battlefield.com/activate
There is another site out there that people have been using that have problems but its an old site we stopped using long ago.

I also doesn't have Downloads tab, and now I see post #4 and I want to register booster pack this way, but now I have other obstacle.

My bf2 soldier account is registered with e-mail(gmail account) account other than the EA.com e-mail account(provider account). And now in first post I see that maybe I can't play booster pack if I register it on the soldier on other e-mail different form ea.com e-mail.

I have 2 accounts in the game:
First for playing bf2 - e-mail address 1
Second for playing bf2 OPK mod - e-mail address 2
I have also Ea.com account - e-mail address 2

If I do steps like in post 1 and 4 can I tie AF i EF to the first ingame account, not the second?
Or should I make the other Ea.com account with e-mail address 1?

Hi Baza,

I've just come back home to sort my mate out with a graphics card so he can play BF2 at last!
Also got him the complete collection on DVD, and have installed everything, patched etc.
He's been in game (vanilla) and played a couple of rounds now, and has also created an EA.com account. But ...

When we try and activate the boosters using your guide above, his soldier name (indy169) does not show up anywhere, in order to select it and link it to his boosters.

I'm tearing my hair out, and going round and round in circles trying to get this sorted, can you help please mate?
