Well when you have 1 person working on it, I assume a while?

(Just kidding about the 1 person. I think )

nobody 'promised' anything. i am as disappointed as anyone in how things have progressed, but come on... acting like a 6year old isn't going to accomplish anything

wait.... it has accomplished something. it has convinced the decision makers at dice that a dumbed down game is what the battlefield players want and deserve.

Indeed ... I believe Baza preferred the term "update".

They can't have taken all this time, just to build the installer. More likely something's gone wrong in testing it .... ?

I agree, after the recent disappointment regarding the upcoming releases of BF:BC 2 & BF1943, I think the hardcore BF players deserve some news, and a GOOD update ASAP now. I sense even the more patient of the forum goers here, are starting to get just a bit exasperated at the lack of update info.

Is testing done? If so let us know if it was good or bad, if it's still going on then just tell us please?!

So people should not voice their concerns about a patch that is 2 years in the making? I doubt a 6 year old would have the wherewithal to create an account, and then start a thread about their concerns with the game. You should go and check out another one of the threads where there is like over 20 people against 1943 and 1 person for it (they must all be 6year olds huh?)

Strangely enough, here in Australia we have a large number of players coming back from COD and other similar FPS and reinstalling BF2 saying it's a better game for game play, team play, vehicles etc.

unfortunately those players soon leave again with complaints about hax and "Still no patch..***?"

If only EA applied some basic marketing concepts. it takes 80% of resources to get a new customer, but only 20% to keep them.

EA management, take note of the "Vote results" in the 1943 thread ...you're losing your base Customers due to a lack of priority and attention to the delays in the patch.

Bring teh patch out asap, then follow up with 1.51 soon afterwards, then you'll likely get the loyalty return for your next releases.

I realize these suggestion will probably go unheeded, yet alone receive a response in return.

Regarded as the best FPS in PC gaming history, probably benchmarking past Castle Wolfenstein, BF2 is destined to the scrap heap taking loyal customers with it.

Come March, I'm gone...sadly along with it will go my influence driving the BF2 community in Australia.

I think we can safely assume the patch is now in a permanent vegetative state, the Dice representative that was more than willing to give out all the info he could a couple a months a go has gone in to a coma with 1.5 details, he's been on the boards today and has not the decency to reply to this this or any other thread regarding 1.5, says it all really, but he will defend that POS 1943, which you cant blame him really, you are going to try and polish you own turds.

We are still working on the build scripts which includes the installation section. This is taking longer than we planned but we want to make sure it all works.
Yes its not great thats its taking this long but it has to work before we release it for obvious reasons.

Thank you Baza for keeping us informed on this. It is always good to hear from you. As long as it works good when it is released; then I will be happy. No need to rush things out. It is better to make sure that it works instead. We have all seen what happens when it gets rushed out. Their is no need for that to happen with this patch.

Yeah, Vector is right, take your time, regardless of the constant hacked server crashes and hacked accounts/leaderboards, you take your merry time, 2010 good for you?

Yes, but I think it's also understandable why we BF2-fans are so full of anxiety and disbelief regarding that patch.

Well I do not want it to be 2010 that is just too long. Please do not listen that comment DICE. LOL We do not want to wait that long. HA I do not know what I would do if it was that long.

OK we can understand that , But can you give us a time frame as to when the Beta will be out for testing , and will it be a 30 day testing or a 3 month like last time.

I do not know if you are aware of this , But the hackers have bin out in full force killing are ranked server's and making good honest players to stop playing BF2 and go to other games insted , So we need this patch and we hope that it will do what you have bin claiming or BF2 will dye completely ( as far as the ranked part of it ) there are the mods and running locked servers but what fun is that.

so, if you are compiling the scrips for the installer, why is it so hard to tell us what will be changed with this patch????Widescreen?Balancing?Anti-Air?Jets?

The only features we know till now is a new map and some security changes for the game-account.......could you please post a kind of changelog, or what is planned for this patch????

and will this patch still be a beta-version, or will it be the final release?

And at last: I've read in an article on f7c-foren.de that BF 3 is still a rumor and won't happen in the next future, but you haven't forgotten the Hardcore PC-Gamer....(taken from an interview with Gordon van Dyke)...
Can you confirm that?

one thing that i've got forgotten: Why isn't it possible to call out an "Mapping competition" for the community, where for example the best 10 maps are going to be implemented into the game, even on ranked servers??

in this way the community will be very pleased and you got the smallest possible development costs......

greets from Germany

Baza.

You're telling us that after a month the "installer" still doesn'tl work? Please, a lot of us work in the industry and compile code/test/build software. Some of us even reverse engineer the code.

It's worst to deceive, not much more than nothing at all, which is what we have received to date.

Don't take it personally, it's an observation.

Truth is none of the other patches worked perfectly and neither will this. Lest we think EA will invest in another 1.51 after public feedback, we're not niaive.

I am sure we all would love the info on whats been done but I can also see why they dont
Why tell us what they have done so the hackers can crash and hack as soon as it comes out, we all know this will happen eventually but 6 to 12 months free of hackers would be nice
I guess when it is released we will get a list of patch's thats have been implemented
Thanks Baza I know you cant say much but if you said something like ok maybe 1 week from today you may see the patch or 2 days (LOL) I still never got your PM reply Baza

How does telling us if there is things changed out side of the supposedly security fixes going to cause the hackers to crack it ?

A simple thing like, we changed the code to make the Jets equal in air for once, made the blackhawk tougher to stop it being a flying coffin to everything and anything on the ground, tweaked the netcode to fix the hitboxes, add options to mute the commander (for one I think everyone agrees on that to be added) widescreen support for those that bought better equipment to play there games.

The list goes on and on of what they can and should be saying they have fixed and not something to post either on the day or let us find out by installing it blindly. And at least gives us a idea if your serious about patching it or not.

But having one guy programme the patch is really taking the **** and means we will probably have even more cockups in the patch breaking things as you flog the pure sole monkey doing a teams work faster.
