You saying you know something we don't?

Anywho, soon is the word around here. There's a thread here in discussion of it: Patch news just posted

They should really have the EA login message as "1.5 is coming" rather than BFBC map packs. I don't even own a 360 or PS3 let alone a copy of BFBC I want something relevant to BF2.

What login message? Or I should ask for which login location?

Their are a few things that I suggested to be added to the forums report to be sent in; to them; on updates to the official sites. This could be another thing to add.

I totally agree with that. The advert is nothing to do with a PC based BF2 and should display more relevant info.

When you start up BF2 and log-in to your account, a square window will pop up in the middle of your screen with information etc.. Currently this window has showed information about BF:BC for a time now, but when Patch 1.5 for BF2 comes out, I really hope it cointains "Patch 1.5 is now released", so ALL can see it.

In other words, this is the "information window" in BF2. In BF2142 we have the "News ticker" at the bottom of the screen you know..

But DICE - Please give us more information about Patch 1.5! I hope it contains A LOT of bugfixes. And AFAIK we should get a beta before final, right?
Keep up the good work!

OK I did already mentioned an update to the in-game news tickers for all the games that are have one. I will send them info on what you have requested and see if they could have it changed or updated to add something on the new patch as well.

Yep there will be a public Beta before final so you can see what we have been working on
Some things you'll see/experience and other things you won't as its behind the scenes to secure Battlefield 2 accounts and playing experiences.

Nice. Hopefully we can also get a chance to go up against some of you DICE people while testing the Beta. If you all can take the time to play the game with us in the community.

Nice and nice!

Nice hints you got there, and I hope they refer to something like this:
* See = server info bug fixed, new maps etc..
* Experience = J-10 vs F-35b imbalance fixed (hitbox on the F-35b smaller), pickup kit CTD fixed, squadbug fixed etc.. You know, the plane imbalance mentioned above is the only imbalance in the game (except Claymores maybe - you fixed the Claymores in BF2142 you know - maybe you can do the exact same changes for BF2?). All other weapons seems fine.
* Hack/cheat prevention fixes = Yeah, I would be happy to see those hackers banned out of the whole game. I cant believe its so fun for them to ruin the gaming experience for us who love the game (..the same for all games though).
And the same for those who just come to the forum and whine/scream all the time. If they think thats going to get anything fixed or something, they are wrong! If they dont like the game, they dont need to whine on the forums either. If they want something fixed, say it in a good manner etc. It may sound stupid of me saying that, but its true.. Or what do you think Baz/Vec ? :P

Neh, I dont mean to say this over and over all the time. I just want the best with the game/patch These things are simply the worst things in the game right now! Keep up the good work DICE!

Patch is in beta? Cool.

Also agree with Skutaboy & FatSwinub, the info box after login means nothing to PC BF2'ers!

yeah, super cool features, like the car-drop, that can be hacked.
maybe an armoury, whee everybody can change ists class while alive - that could be a good plattform for a new hack.

Hey Bazajaytee
Anyway sought of the best news we have heard for a while but I wonder if they meant the beta would be out before Christmas? well maybe, maybe not any ideas or a guess?
If the Beta does come out "Really Soon" would it be for certain people or everyone, meaning Buddies of Aa/Dice or everyone?
thanks

The beta would be for everyone that wants to install it, the more people that do the better feedback we get and we don't have an update 1.30 again. That update alone set us on the road of public beta to stop it from happening in another update.
The plan is to get it out before Christmas yes

lalalala, at last some news regarding this new update, it would be a nice xmas present if the patch doelalalala at the time stated, my mates server is due for renewel in December and he does not feel like shelling out cash for a server that is crashed by nub hackers constanly, so this update will come at a good time and I hope it is hack proof when it come to preventing server crashies, cheers.

Really? It's seems to many old players it was because you guys wanted to realease the boosterpacks.

and because of that you didn't wanted to rollback >.> also because it means people who buyed the boosterpack couldn't play anymore.

one last mention: boosterpacks are like xbox DLC and just wrong way to go..

expansion packs are more cooler or free stuff

Expansion packs like Special Forces where by you can't play on the same server rotation as normal Battlefield 2 maps?
Boosters allow you to play the same maps in rotation with other BF2 maps while adding new content.

1.30 did feature an update to allow for booster packs to be added but the update itself has more in it than just that and the boosters were not the cause of the server stability problem in 1.30.

Excuse me,

Boosterpacks where just rip off.
you say "Boosters allow you to play the same maps in rotation with other BF2 maps while adding new content." But if you didn't had the boosterpacks installed it was still meaningless because you couldn't play on it.

and why is it ripp off. because 3 maps and some new weapons and models aren't worth to split the community. That you did with those boosterpacks.

Also with simple restart of the server you could change the server to Bf2 or SF... in matter of minutes..

I didn't say it was the cause of it I said because of the rush for releasing boosterpacks you also rushed the patch without proper testing.
and don't tell me you did proper testing because 90% my clan had CTD's also I know you even killed some of the most popular city servers around because of it with the server crashes..

the sad story of 1.3

Actually the update 1.30 wasn't rushed out. The server stability only appeared as a problem when the update launched because of the sheer number of players that hit the servers. Its impossible to copy the kind of testing that real world gives within a company environment. No company is going to hire thousands of people to see "what happens if...". Thats why public betas now take place.

As for whether the booster packs are value thats down to personal choice of each person. I see you don't think it is good value which is your choice.

How is an expansion different to a booster pack? You can't play Special Forces if you dont have it installed and again, you get different parts of the community buying it and others not.

So you guys are telling me you didn't even stretch one server before you guys whould release 1.3. even for a game like BF2 where server stability is a must. then why didn't you guys didn't do rollback? that much better because 1.2 was very stable for the majority of players. You could solve this in matter of week if you asked me.

"As for whether the booster packs are value thats down to personal choice of each person. I see you don't think it is good value which is your choice. "

Then you can say most of the people didn't like that choice what EA is doing. We pc gamers are no consel gamers who like to be ripped of ^^ with there DLC .

Also there is very big difference and that the amout content you get. that makes it worthwhile.

It didn't happen with one server running or even the few we had. It was all a combination of servers, number of players and load on the overall system.
So until we had hundreds of servers, thousands of players it would never have shown up.

A lot of people have bought the boosters especially now they are part of the Complete Collection. A lot of people still havent realised the maps can be played in rotation with BF2 maps because they are used to Special Forces.

There's an offside idea, after the 1.5 patch is out... a "community chosen vanilla bf2 map pack" to come a few months later. :P

Thanks for the information Bazajaytee.

I want to ask you about something I have always wanted to know:
Why didnt you make the EF weapons available as unlocks, just like you did with SF? That would have made EF A LOT more popular. It would have been so awesome, heh. I love the weapons in EF..
Thats the reason why SF is the most popular pack - it has a lot of new armies (Insurgents f.ex), it has new weapons(available as unlocks in vanilla too), it has new things like "Tear Gas", "Grappling Hook" and "Zip line", which are fun to use and makes the gameplay more interesting. I love using those things.

Anyway, keep up the good work with Patch 1.50. I hope we will see a lot of bugfixes with it..
