I still would like to know your computer specs and the make and model of your TV. It may shed some added light on the subject. ![]() Yet as for the number of people that you say were effect by this problem; your number is over-exaggerated a bit. At least for this game.On a side note.... You know I was reading my release notes yesterday for my driver and I found them to be quite insightful on some things. Not to say that it will help you in any way. It is just something that I wanted to bring up. Here is a link to my drivers release notes. http://us.download.nvidia.com/Window...ease_Notes.pdf At the bottom of them is a list of all the supported resolutions and refresh rates as well as other info. It is an interesting read you should read it over; if you have not already. Also it suggest to look over the user guide. The user guide for that driver it is this one. http://us.download.nvidia.com/Window...tart_Guide.pdf Not to say that you are using this driver at all. But it may be good to look at what your drivers release notes and user guide may say. I found them to be quite an interesting and good read. ![]() I think that I mentioned this earlier; but my brother is using his TV for the game. Any ways....Why not just go out and get a newer TV. Their are some really good deals out their. TV's are sort of a pet peeve for me; as I have a few decent ones. I would suggest this to anyone even if they did not have issues. I am sort of an entertainment nut. That is why I collect movies and things. I also spend a bit of extra money to get quality stuff when it comes to my entrainment. Like my 65" TV that I bought when it first came out and a few others; and how I bought my parents a new HD flat screen when it came out. I also spent quite a bit on my surround sound and other accessories. Plus I am building a small movie theater room in my parents house for them. But that is just me being who I am. ![]() Any ways....you might want to think about it. The older TV's are being pushed out by the newer ones. Which is also why the support for lower refresh rates is becoming an issue with the newer drivers. Most of the newer TV's are using higher refresh rates now anyways. Plus it is always a good thing to have a quality TV. It is a investment that would go beyond just game with your PC. You could also TV a converter of sorts which may be less than a new TV. Plus I hope that you do not take what I have suggested in the wrong way. They are just friend suggestions.

For the price of 3 new games, you could buy a computer monitor. For a few more, you could buy a modern TV. If you can afford hundreds of games, you should be able to swing this no problem. Ea/dice may be rich, but it sounds like you aren't too bad off either. Every one of us who still plays BF2 could produce a very big list of things we would like the developers to include in the patch -- many of witch are uncommon problems most players do not see. What makes you think that you are more deserving than anyone else? Would you be sympathetic to me if I started spamming this thread with complaints on how BF2 will not run on my Voodoo5 video card? Or that performance is terrible on my Pentium 2 with 256mb of ram? if you feel you must continue to rant, please take it to another thread. |

to the top post: all the laptops that got returned that came factory 59hz lcd native resolution would not work with BF2 and BF2142....this is a fact and from what i read on google WAS VERY WIDE SPREAD. DELL AND TOSHIBA you understand? they dont just make a few laptops and then stop production they make 100,000`s then out of that mix are the ppl that play BF2 and BF2142 ok you get the picture just on that ALONE not including the TV-OUT problem (which is the same exact problem with the laptops with the 59hz locked refresh rate) NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT EA/DICE CLAIMS ABOUT OVERSCAN there is no fraking overscan issue on a laptop with an LCD DO YOU GET THIS!????? it is a refresh rate ISSUE! that is why it affects the TV-OUT and the locked refresh rate of 59hz laptops..... now you understand this right? and to the other guy saying about wing commander I, II and III which incedently i owned all of em. you said they didnt work....WELL FIRST OF ALL I SAID THEY HAD TO RUN ON VISTA AND AN NVIDIA CARD before you can say they dont work on a tv-out with vista and an nvida card....you get this? its amazing how easy it is to shoot down all these theorys.....we (the ppl who use their tv`s as HTPC and the LAPTOP ppl also) we know you are full of it.... we been testing this lalalala for 2years minimum and if you count vista beta that would be 3 years maximum which is how long i have had vista. we know you are full of lalalala with your answers/fixes EA/DICE refuse to handle this problem and its such a simple fix (or should be unless they programmed BF2 and BF2142) in some special way that dont allow the 30hz to be added. well we know everytime you change your vcard driver that both BF2 and BF2142 has to optimize shaders.... i really dont know why DICE....EA shouldnt even be included in this as it really is a developer defect and not a distributo problem....but EA could have told DICE to fix it in a patch. that is probably really where the problem is. EA dont want to PAY DICE more money to fix the games. when a developer makes a game they make a deal with the distributor for so many patches to be included.....that is why you will usually see like 2 or 3 in an average game. anything more then that the distributor has to PAY the dev to get another one. i just dont know how EA hasnt made DICE put that fix in both bf2 and bf2142 when they had them make patches. listen i dont really want to hear any replies about how the patches get done or how business works but I DONT WANT TO HEAR its only on my system or its MS or NVIDIA fault....i and many people are well aware of this. btw on those laptops that were locked at 59hz they had ATI inside ALSO not just NVIDIA. its BF2 and BF2142 that are broken with anything less then 60hz before you reply why dont you just google the facts instead of popping in and spirting off stuff one more thing to the guy that asked my system specs. in 3 years i have had 4 different systems and 3 different TV`s and NONE worked with TV-OUT on VISTA and dont forget all those LAPTOPS with the 59hz issue which has nothing at all to do with the "SO CALLED OVERSCAN ISSUE" this really is a joke. 3 years and still hearing the same replies....its MS and NVIDIA fault.... YAWN! it really gets boring after that much time....espicially when you know the truth. that is why i am on here REQUESTING THE FIX TO BE IN THE PATCH.....how can you deny this even in this thread DICE acknowledge the problem as an OVERSCAN issue with MS/NVIIDA....SO THE ISSUE IS ACKNOWLEDGED you get it? |

i am requesting this fix even if you dont want me to request it!!!!! i just dont want to hear there is no problem or it is an overscan issue with MS/NVIDIA. I also dont want to hear there is no problem or why dont you get an HDTV or why dont you go back to windows XP or why dont you just get another game....etc....that same old lalalala i just want to hear that the FIX will be addressed and in the 1.5 i will be able to use my TV-OUT HOW HARD IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND??? |

lets see bf2 is what 5 years old? i can understand no patch for this game (eventhough i like it better then bf2142) but bf2142 is from 2005 and there is absolutely no excuse to why there hasnt been a refresh rate fix for that (by the way i havent even played BF2 in like 2 years because of all the cheaters) i just play BF2142 and its really fun and not as many cheaters. but i definately like BF2 models and enviroment better but (again) BF2142 game play is just as fun as BF2 and i like the characters weapons better then bf2 anyhow when i am playing on my crt....which is very rare lately....look at my online character i havent played it at all in like 3 weeks at least because as i am typing this message right now im hooked to my tv. my crt i used to game on is on another computer....so like i said before im not going to move that crt monitor out to living room and hook it all up and change the settings in the nvidia control panel everytime i wasnt to play bf2142....its a great game but im not doing all that lalalala and make my living room all cluttered just for that game. so yea you are right....why even make a patch for BF2 at all....its so old... ![]() my point is this. (with no sarcasim this time) if you are going to make a patch for BF2...CAN YOU FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE ADD THE REFRESH-RATE FIX so i and many people that like to game on their tv can play. Thank-you. |

DOSBox is your friend. Old DOS games work perfectly on both XP and Vista.

geez, i was ready to spin a whole web of conspiracy about how Origin (who made WC and privateer) had been bought by EA years ago.... And how those ip assets were shifted about over the years. Ultimately becoming the responsibility of DICE, and specifically the BF2 development team.
Then I was going to make several annoying posts about how I demand that the bf2 1.5 patch should fix these games for me. Thanks, braided. ps, And how's come you aren't playing POE anymore? |

I got bored - and fed up - with BF2's engine, I guess. TF2 came out and I got caught up in the novelty of it. That and I'd long since lost any/all hope of BF2 receiving the fixes that it needs most, so I figured it was time to move on anyhow.

The topic of this thread is BF2 1.50. Questions on what its features may be and when it may come out.
I ask that everyone please try to stay on that topic and try not to argue about each others views or opinions. This thread has strayed a bit but it can still be put back on track. If it does not I may be forced to close it. If you have separate topics that you wish to discuss in more detail then feel free to make a new thread on said topics.
