Highway Tampa - Question about tactics

Seeing as this map is basically an armour map, what's everyones opinion about using the transport helo as an effective anti-armour weapon? What my squad was doing last night was using the helo to hunt out enemy armour then getting overhead to drop mines to try & take out the tank/apc etc.

Upon searching bf2 forums on the net I see this tactic is used alot on this map, but last night we got accused of stat padding partly because the pilot who is support class, can end up with quite a high teamscore by the end of the round for re-supplying the engineers.

Points I couldn't care about, to be honest it's funny as hell to get mine kills by dropping them from the helo & for the first time since bf2 was released I had loads of fun playing it. No doubt the 2 players who were complaining on the server last night were ones we took out with mines!

Even with a couple of engineers the helo isn't indestructable, we got shot down quite a few times & inbetween dropping mines on enemy armour we were capping flags as well.

So question is, what do other people think about this tactic & should we stop because a few might not like it. I've also read the rules of conduct sticky & really haven't made up my mind whether the dropping mines from a helo is something you shouldn't do or not.

I like your style mayhemuk. its pretty much an open ended game tactics wise. so keep up the good work soldier, and respect is due for using your brain.. After all its a battlefield out there..

That sounds like a lot of fun, wish I could do that... but it never works out. People don't have the patience to do that

This is a very old tactic, better if you fill the helo with spec ops and drop c4, it becomes a B52
Problem is that attack helos and even a couple of 50 cal jeeps can bring it down with ease but on some public servers where everyone is unco-ordinated it can be great fun, we used to do it on Mashtur and it was good sport

I do not see anything wrong with that tactic.
I have tried pretty much everything from them. Mines, C4, sniper'ing. I still have yet to hit someone with a sniper rifle from a transport; but I still try. I have got a kill wit the mine from them before and many points from healing and resupplies while in them. I do not consider it stat-padding. Their are trying to kill the enemy and just happen to be getting resupplied while doing it. It is not like they are sitting still away from the battle and just getting the supply points.

Good tactic, good to break open the map too. And the choppers are easy to shoot on highway, enough aa,planes too. If they dont like it, then they should do something about it, outside wine about it......................i love full choppers ,jackpot!!!
