Unfortunatly EA can never tell anything straight hence all the speculations but, sorry to dissappoint you, there aint gonna be any new patch.

You better find a new game if the cheating, statpadding, macrojerks, divingandkillyouwithoneshotinthehead rubbish bothers you.

Look at the bright side, after all they gave you vehicledrop in the game, something we all felt was missing. All the bugs back then EA thought we could live with.
They all do however dissappear when you turn you game off.
No EA game has ever effected wordpad.
Nice patching EA

none of the things that you mentioned bothers me in the game, i own them all ,what bothers me are the unbalanced issues like the jets one and such.

and not releasing a contest to form a big map pack with all the maps that are lying around to download for free, there´s a lot of fantastic maps for every taste.
a smart decision to invest a litlle in an "old" game that is one of the most well suceeded that EA have ever released.
i feel a deja vu...

Hmm,, if you own them all.
How much do they get paid ?, after all, you do need to pay your staff. Hee!!!

The jets doesent bother me since im more on foot trying to cap a flag, never got the hang of that in a jet or helo.
Perhaps a patch with hoverjets and rocket helos EA ??

New forums, new looks; same problems. It's fast coming up on a year since the last official update from EA, let alone a patch and this question has been kicking around for about half as long while EA twiddle their thumbs, "Ho-Hum... Maybe if we ignore it, the problems will fix themselves."

There's nothing official to announce about a possible patch but I can say that it's something we continue to pursue. Unfortunately it's not as simple as that, numerous details still need to be investigated and confirmed before we know if this will happen or not. As Community Manager for DICE there's nothing I currently want to see more as it's unquestionably the #1 request for Battlefield right now. As such, I'm doing what I can to try and make it happen but nothing is guaranteed yet.

In short, we definitely still hear you, we're doing what we can here to make things happen, however until things are certain it's not possible to call either way. We realise it's a frustrating wait, however as soon as we have a definite answer, so will you guys.

rumours around the net are that after 1.40 patch is finally out of beta for 2142( thats taken a while?? ) it will be 2142's final patch and any future boosters have been dropped. I dunno how true that is or not, but couple that with the fact that the next Battlefield game - Bad Company is primarily a console game( and hasnt even been confirmed for PC ), then it seems the whole BF thing on the PC has been dropped completely unfortunately

Besides BF2 is getting on a bit now and the modders are doing a great job of fixing certain vanilla issues in the mods. Also the original BF1942 Desert Combat modders( and they worked on Battlefield 2 ) game "Frontlines: Fuel of War" beta is ongoing at the moment( if your a fileplanet subscriber, grrr ) and is due for release in the new year, that should hopefully be the BF replacement that we've all been after, fingers crossed anyway( currently mixed reports, lots of bugs etc )

Battlefield has definitely not been dropped from PC. As for future Battlefield 2142 patches, there's nothing to announce yet but 1.4 hasn't been decided as the "last" 2142 patch or anything like that yet.

after actually looking over my server logs for a week and seeing the number of hub bans, I'm quite shocked by the amount of cheating that is actually going on.

Honestly patch it, remove stats - do something!

Not being a fan of futuristic lazerphests, this is still the best game out there.

just looking at the moment, half life has the most players with 95648 then bf2 with 16371 then wolfenstein with 11379 so that basically says it all. if they patched it they might be able to sell more expansion packs but as it stands i think they should give away the ex pacs. the game deserves supporting.

As we have no announcements on whether or not there are any plans for a future BF on the PC or anything related to BF2 or 2142 patches were left with only rumours and speculation( originally posted by fudzilla - http://www.digitalbattle.com/2007/09...ansion-canned/ ).
And The DICE team are currently preoccupied with both Battlefield: Bad Company( console only ) and Mirror's Edge( console & PC ), so honestly it doesnt leave much room for any current PC BF updates

Such as? Lets see, here's what I can com up with.
1) Sufficent interest in the game? Check.
2) Still selling new copies at full retail price. Based on pricing and shelf location i have seen, id have to say: Check.
3) Continued revenue from Ranked Servers? Check.
4) Common codebase with a currently supported game? i.e. does dice still have people on staff that know the code. Check.
5) A new game coming out that will make them forget about BF2? Negatory. (The only reason I did not buy 2142 was the way BF2 was handled. I personally will not buy another dice-made game unless something good happens with bf2)
6) Can the code and/or balance issues be fixed for a reasonable amount of money? I dunno. Depends on the labor laws in Sweeded, i imagine.

Sentience, we all would like to hear what the issues are that make the patching question such a difficult decision. If there is a good reason, then I'm sure most people would understand and be more patient. Thats not too much to ask, is it?

My bad. I thought instiginata was the new community manager.

Who.... Who is in charge of making this decision?
Johan Näsman? Marcus Nilsson? Could you ask them to pop in here and give us the scoop?

I am the new Community Manager for EA UK. Dice has appointed its own Community Manager.

That's weird. I read it like "How many times do we have to say the exact same thing over and over again?"

Another poll is useless. Utterly useless.

the thing that i don't understand is why they keep shooting themselves in the foot, they made one of the most successfull fps's of all time. dice created a new genre combining vehicles & ground troops, build up one of the most loyal groups to a game then treat them with almost contempt. i compare this to what epic did with the original unreal tournament, they gave away 4 map packs, skins etc and supported the community and modders. bf42 got it almost right from the go, bfv was awful and bf2 was better but now i put it almost on the same level as bfv and 2142 is bf2's bfv. they must have seen the damage done by sales of 2142, in thier position i would drop the franchise as it's a poisoned chalice now. how can they make a bf3, i wont be buying crysis, sigh, let alone another ea game?. this is not a group of people who bought the sims, this is a community!.

might edit later with paragraph's - sorry, alcohol fuel'd ghost writing!

Finally! I've been trying to register on the new forums all day. I ended up having to create yet another hotmail account, another EA account, and so on (Simply because, when i registered for the forums last time, i also had to end up creating a new account etc, and i forgot all the details soon after, and left it to log me in automatically). And even then i had trouble.

But anyway.

Glad to see both Sentience and Insignia have reappeared.

I'd also be very interested in finding out just what the issues are. But i'm not getting my hopes up..
