Oh their priorities were clear from the start:

1.) Announce new expansion/booster pack to create spin and hype.
2.) Develop expansion/booster pack.
3.) Develop code to support said expansion/booster pack and incorporate into the next patch iteration.
4.) Make token changes to outstanding bugs and other gameplay/balance issues to give the impression that we care.
5.) Release expansion/booster pack to retail in time with the support patch and hope things don't get broken
6.) Fix the broken stuff so the booster/expansion pack will work. Screw the rest.
7.) Repeat from #1 until there are no more fools left to sucker and let the franchise slide. Ignore complaints about outstanding bugs and other gameplay/balance issues and hope people just forget about it all and purchase our latest spinware.

Dont wanna burst your bubble but the cheats for bf2 also work on most mods. If seen the commander hack(even wenn they removed the supply crates from the mod), in all the mods,so i asume the rest also works. Still the same engine........

True, but hacks don't seem to mess much with mods. Probably because they are not ranked (ea ranked, that is).

But the mods have addressed some of the exploits. I play POE and they have something that immedatley kills anyone who glitches into a wall. And they also have a 'dome of death' option. When on, enemy players who enter an UCB get health taken away -- like when you go out of bounds.

I'm sure the POE team would be happy to show Dice how to fix BF2.

Default BF 2 patches

Hi all is it just me not doing it right, or is it every patch i install wrecks the game and i have to re install BF 2 and special forces pack every time. And is there anyone out there who has found a patch that works, i have tried 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 and all fail to install properly and corrupt the shader file.

You need patch 1.41 to play online, apply the patch after installing bf2 and again after Special forces. Should be ok, link to the patch

I see that the 2142 patch is finished. Would now be the time that DICE will start the process to decide if a decision on whether to patch BF2 should be considered for evaluation? Or is more scrutiny needed at this point?

You know, after the disastrous release of the BF2142 1.4 patch, i'm not sure if i want another BF2 patch. They'll only make things worse because they're completely incompetent. And i don't use the term lightly.

They know this game needs one last comprehensive patch from the game browser to the hit detection, they just won't do it.

They're probably working on the rumored BF3 right now

Well, if they are, let's hope they've learnt a few lessons, not least being - don't release the game until it's beta-tested to death and ready!!

Be curious as to what any future BF game (for PC, not consoles) will be based around - I can't see another futuristic one being "realistic" enough, plus it'd just be too like BF2142, Halo 3 or whatever, they've done the "Middle East" , both in BF2 and DC/DCX/AfghanCombat (Although non-official mods I know), the far East is covered again by BF2, already done Vietnam, did WW2 in the first instance, there's a mod for the first World War. Korean conflict wasn't 'interesting' enough and would offer very limited gameplay IMO. What have we got left? Certain limited skirmishes in Eastern Europe, Somalia, Northern Ireland (although I think that might be in bad taste really, although the SLR's would be fun!), Falklands, Iran/Iraq conflict?

Hope there is a "next" BF game, but think the lack of exciting scenarios is a bit limited.

I could care less about the setting, it could pit the smurfs against the snorks, i don't care. What I do care about is the game play. I want it to be balanced, bug free, competitive and fun.

I don't want the next game to support directx 10.1 and have models with 300 million polygons apiece. Devs spend too much time making the game look pretty and not enough time making it play well. But eye candy is what most people want, i guess

Fair one - we all want a well-crafted game!

My point was that a game has to have a plausible theme, especially if it's part of a franchise or series, in order to be commercially viable. Smurfs V Snorks would be fun though, but better suited to a Worms enviroment perhaps?? (now there's one for the mod guys!)

What's disastrous about it? I've had zero problems with it...

Well, pretty much the entire first page of this thread is full of people saying the patch doesnt work, because the download was corrupted: Update 1.40 with Highway Tampa Released

Same with the website i downloaded it from: http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi...84322x#1405547

Lots of comments wondering why it doesnt work.

And then, if you managed to get a full patch, half the time it wouldnt let people install it because it said they had a newer version, when they didn't, and the solution was to install the game from scratch, even though it was a full patch, and should update any version to 1.4.

It was just a perfect example of the level of bad coding, and lack of care that i've come to expect from EA.

As far as i'm concerned, that classes as disastrous. Especially after months and months and months (and months) of beta testing.

Default A few fixes only for a patch (the only fixes needed)

Can you make a new patch for BF2 which fixes these bugs:

* server info (name/ip/graphic picture) not always showing up on loading screen, and on Server info button on the scoreboard list ingame

* crash (CTD) when picking up a kit

* balance the J- 10 -> F- 35b

* maybe decrease the explosion radius of the claymore a little bit (like you did in BF2142)

* squad bug (we cant create a squad). to fix this, the server has to be restarted..

EA and DICE - If you fix those few bugs in BF2 - I would love you so much! That was not so many fixes was it? I want to say it - If a patch with these fixes will be released, I will love you so much.. =)
