The truth is:

1.) They still stock and sell BF2 for full retail at outlets across the globe.
2.) Announcing that they were officially dropping all support for a game that has not yet slid into the bargain bin would be a more disastrous PR move than fielding a massive smoke'n'mirrors campaign.
3.) They're waiting for a time when public scrutiny dies off to the point where they can publicly release official policies - policies that we already know they've adopted internally - to public venues without drawing a firestorm down upon themselves.

Incidentally, has anyone ever seen that documentary called "The Corporation"? It's a good watch and EA fits the whole program's profile to a tee.

I know Ea! Next time make a duff game ...like BF2142...then we wont care so much when you decide to drop it... Was the last bunkbuster update desinged to put even more people off the game? Even those that have just purchased?

More double speak is the answer I see being delivered.... Some things never change.... no matter how much make-up you apply, it doesn't change the real facts.

i dont know if anyone is taking notice but since the forums moved all my posts and threads get deleted almost instantly.

looks like censorship is showing its ugly face in the form of a couple of nazi admins.

They're not in the archive with all the other old forum threads?

I'm more interested in who managed to make some dozy post using my display name about the stats being shut down. Got it sorted now thanks to some jiggery pokery with EACS but makes you wonder about the unscrupulous types out here on the interweb.

Default patch 1.41

Will this patch 1.41 patch up from the very standard game or do we still have to install all the previos patches. Will this fix the online play where I personally play for about 4 mins and than crash to desktop. single player is fine. Judging from other forums I am not the only one this happens to and after much trawling can still find no definitive answe

Yes, the full version of 1.41 (iirc there was no incremental 1.41) will patch up the game from a clean install. Just make sure you install any boosters/expansion packs before applying 1.41.

Have you done a _manual_ punkbuster update?

I just did a manual update on 9-27-07 ~2:00:00 gmt. This is the version that installed at that time:

You're threads were deleted for reasons I explained in the PM you decided to post. If you have something to say on these forums, like everyone else, keep it on topic and constructive.

Now, I am not going to turn this thread into a debate about your deleted postings, if you wish to discuss further, by all means PM me.

I hope they fix the long problem with China and MEC winning 90% of the time in 64 player servers.

The F-35B, F-15 and Blackhawk are death coffins that make the USMC lose most of the time.

As such, I'm doing what I can to try and make it happen but nothing is guaranteed yet.

In short, we definitely still hear you, we're doing what we can here to make things happen, however until things are certain it's not possible to call either way. We realise it's a frustrating wait, however as soon as we have a definite answer, so will you guys.

I hear what you guys are saying, but have thought about the Mods? I've downloaded Point of Existance and Project Reality, and I can tell you, they are great games. A wide variety of maps and PR has such a different form of gameplay, it's a little scary but really refreshing. Sort of BF2 but polished and needing a bit of skill. Not so much of a shootem-up. As much as I loved BF2 when it came out, and all the hours I played on it, it got a little stale, you know what I mean? Have a look and give them a try. I'm glad I did, because if I didn't, I really wouldn't have a game to play and enjoy!

I hear you Gray.

Personally i dont want to play the MODS, and i would rather not say why. However i do think that we were blessed with one of the finest FPS games made to date, i dont see the need to go elsewhere. The requirement from the community is simple, a few fixes and a large map pack and then announce BF3....

Its all about the money huh...

yeah poe is cool, but i bougth bf2, not poe...

bf2 just needs minor fixes.
i could be one of the greatest games ever...

btw: poe has its own issues, many are the same like bf2.
in poe2 i can kill a russian tank with only one shot.
much easier like the arbrams in vanilla.
thats a bf2 issue, like the hitboxes...

Do you think it's going to happen Johno??? I think EA thinks it old hat! They'll dream up another game, similar but different enough to make us pay for it all again, you watch. I don't know what reasons you could have for not downing a Mod, even PR, but you really should give it a try. You'll recognise an awful lot of the buildings and some of the maps are the same, except their better. Better weapons and much more imaginative. Remember what happened when the guys got to work on 1942? We ended up with BF2! OK I've had my say and we can but hope, but don't hold your breath!

I think dice should read what ppl want in the game , what is stupid and whats not . . . .
They should also read up on some warfare info about tanks and choppers, and bullets , lalala, bullets knock you down.... Argh, you cant take 3 hits in the kevlar and return fire, you go down even when you dont die.... bullet in the leg, you limp, simple lalalala to make..
Leg limp was in games early as Action Quake 2 and fireArms mod for HL, I bet the DicE competent team can implement that in 20 mins of coding.. or they need to replace some coders... ..

I prefer a fun game to play over a realistic game to play day. I don't think BF2's intention is to be as realistic as possible and it doesn't have to be.

Think about it. The more realism you put into a game the less fun it will be. Where do you draw the line? If you never stop adding realism eventually you'll get to a game where if you're killed then you don't ever spawn again. If you're hit in the leg with a bullet you can no longer move. How much fun is it to just sit there waiting for an enemy to come finish you off?

i know i haven't been around for a while but... HOW many Community Managers has there been.. I do remember a Colin guy WHO was supose to be "close" with the community but it never happened... I'm kind of upset about Dice's ("EA's") relation to the pc community..

Welcome to the club. Only things are a whole lot worse now. We have almost no freedom of expression around these parts anymore. It kind of makes this whole thread pointless since any discussion about patches is just about guaranteed to be coupled with criticism, which flat out isn't tolerated on these forums an longer.

Actually #2 is incorrect, many of the local store here have begun ot clearence this game. Bestbuy & circuit city are now selling it for 9.95. Therefore it IS a bargain game.

I have tried them, i beta tested an earlier version of PR....and just recently i tried the latest release. I also tried POE. I would rather not say why i dont like them, but i would like to echo my earlier comments which are "BF2 is one of the finest games ever bought out imo. It would be a travesty to see it neglected by its dev.

I'd like for them to fix the unexplainable lag.
