Default Connecton Error

Hi all, tried the port forwarding, trying at 2am and everything and cannot play battlefield 1943 online.

I already have an EA account that I set up a few months ago for LOTR:Conquest and then used flawlessly for Burnout Paradise. Dont know if it affects Dead Space but no problems with that either even though it doesnt use online features.

Anyway, im on PS3, before the frostbite logo I get a ps3 screen with the white line at top and bottom but no message/disappears within a second. Dont know if that affects anything.

When on the title, friends cannot invite me, apparently I dont even appear. Everytime ive tried a quick game I get the connection error: could not connect to game. Apart from the odd once or twice where I get stuck on the loading screen, being able to hear voice chat but just staying there until I exit the game via PS Button. I dont get any EA online logos or anything. The message bar at the bottom updates itself fine.

Any help? Probably didnt make myself clear on a few points. But ive tried this every day at different times. 2mb Tiscali Broadband (switching over to O2 as Tiscali are terrible, have problems with PS Home and Warhawk during the Afternoon.)

--

Apart from that it looks like a very good game and I much prefer it (only played tutorial and seen the gameplay vids and level videos) than to Call of Duty world at war and Warhawk, which it seems like a mix of, with the battlefield destructible environment.

Your download is corrupt. Delete and redownload the game from the Playstation Store. When you are downloading, be sure not to be doing anything else on your PS3 like music playback, web surfing etc. Just let it download and install peacefully.

Thanks for visiting the forums. ^.^

I wondered if that was the problem, although I would have thought if it was corrupt, it wouldnt even load or install error.

I did leave it to download a week ago :P Left my ps3 on when I went to bed with the auto-turnoff on. I'll delete and re-download now and get back to you tomorrow, cant be quick with these things when Tiscali are involved

Tutorial Mode worked fine though sure its corrupt before I delete/re-download?

Yes. Just because the tutorial works just means the engine and game downloaded properly... but the issues you describe, like not seeing logos, or being able to hear in game live chat but not get into that game... definately corrupt data. Something is looping during the handshakes with the server.

How long does it take to download the game on your ISP? ~.~

It sounds like your describing dial-up speeds...

If your not running at least Cable speed uploads, the game won't even be worth playing online for you...

Sorry :P

During the day, downloads on my ps3 go from 20-40kb/s at bad times and at night it goes the full 220kb/s for a few hours.

I know that ghwt messes around but as I say we're trying to move to O2 but we're not in their area so we'll have to pay more for the meanwhile.

Anything has to be better than Tiscali and their cut off/suspending for no good reason, 3 times this year. Plus terrible speeds and throttling during the day and Indian customer service. Hopefully like I said, switching isp will stop all the fuss I have on my 58 ps3 games. Deserve that much at least.

I get 45-50% wireless connection most of the time but as I say it doesn't affect the speed.

edit: 176mb, we also get random disconnects, especially when bad weather so we'll have to sort that out with BT if it still happens with O2

edit 2: siggy

Right, redownloaded and same problem.

Ive double checked the ports opened, ive been sitting there trying to join a game but everytime with the "please wait" and then cannot join and connection error boxes, cant even get onto the loading screen 4/5 of the time.

My friend still isnt able to invite me, and it works fine for him.

Well if I cant get this working, I cant spend £10 on the game/enjoy it

well that solves everything

I suppose a megabyte every 5 seconds isnt enough then?

Well its funny you say get a better connection when every game works online one way or another and only battlefield bad company demo and battlefield 1943 trial ive tried dont work.

Works:
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 Demo
Little Big Planet
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty: World at War
Burnout Paradise
Playstation Home (non peak times)
Warhawk
Age of Booty
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2
Condemned 2
Metal Gear Solid: Online
F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin
Noby Noby Boy
Mirrors Edge
Lord of the Rings: Conquest
Super Stardust HD

Don't Work:
Battlefield: Bad Company Demo
Battlefield 1943 Trial

Work a bit:

Guitar Hero World Tour

Not tried:

Lego Star Wars
Rock Band 2
Mortal Kombat 2
Super Street Fighter 2

--

Note that some of those listed only upload scores online, such as noby noby boy, mirrors edge and super stardust hd

--

So as you can see, on the whole.. i'd say its not my connection thats at fault

yeah, the same thing happens with us. but ours was fine 5 to 10 minutes ago. we were playing, and we exited the game to take a break, then we selected quick match, it finds a game, trys to join, but i get to messages saying the same thing, just a different title. Connection error and Unavailable game, or something along those lines

Exact same thing, something like

"Join Error". "The Game is unavailable."
Then
"Connection Error" "The Game is unavailable"

Ive brought the full game now, trophies are unlocked and player profiles seem to be fine. I can do everything but get past the loading screen.

We're on the move to O2 at the moment, estimated crossover to them is the 27th. So if we still cant connect even with a different isp. I'll buy a 30 foot ethernet cable just for this game. If that doesn't work, you should really refund people or give out a addon with 2 maps or something free, not just an extra 30mins on the trial.

I have 3 or 4 friends from the US who have it and absolutely no problems online. I wonder why its mostly UK isolated, or at least a lot of UK users with problems.

Sorry about the change of username, not used to iZerbirus apart from PS3

Anyway, ethernet cable didnt work, but it did x3 my speed wirelessly

But ive solved the problem! Switched to O2 Broadband! Now getting x4 the wireless speed at the same connection % and bf1943 works flawlessly, even got 3 or 4 trophies within half an hour, really fun

Thanks Dice/EA/O2!!
