Default Australian Servers are Happening!

I got official word this will happen within the next few days! So if you already bought it this should make your experience 1,000,000,000,000 times better!

I had to fight hard to get this after we got the sales numbers and Australia had really low sales numbers, it was 8 times less than Japan, 24 times less than the UK, and 34 times less than the USA! I hope I see this change so I can add even more servers in your region!

Blimey, keep up the good work on servers Gordon.

I'm curious to know just how much you projected to sell, and have sold on day one sales.

well, they only have 20 million people, whereas UK have 60mil..and US 330 mil i think, and Japan has something like 130 million so not that surprised with the numbers, good you can get the servers though

Great job gordon this we'll increase my enjoyment on the game 100x more (WHEN I GET IT TMMR THAT IS) but just 2 things i would like to ask.
1. How many aus servers are there going to be in total?
2. Are these servers for both the PS3 and 360?

But anyway Gordon keep up the good work

Default Chicken and the Egg

Hi Gordon,
Dice made a smart move and learnt from the past when it comes to making sure they listened to the community (more) after BFBC. You are doing a great job you are literally everywhere on the sites.... great comes.

In saying that to say we can get servers once sales numbers are there I have a little difficulty with.

As follows we pay just as much as anyone else but get inferior network service.

Secondly since this is an electronic only distributed product, for PSN, we need to purchase either via a credit card or via a redeem code.

The credit card is only for a small percentage of the market and redeem codes are not available in AU/NZ.

So I don't see that we will be hitting any realistic sales targets to get local servers. Even reducing the price of the game would not help as the mechanism is not there for us.

I would suggest selling redemotion codes online via debit cards....nb PSN does not accept debit cards.

All the Best
Mike

Thanks for the kind words, but I hate when people don't read what I say. And I hate repeating myself even more! WE ARE ADDING OZ SERVERS!!!!!!!!!!! To justify adding MORE the sales will need to go up, simple reading and simple math!

Extra info is we will cover the capacity demand and it is servers for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Great ill give a debit card a try today.

The point being yes it is a PSN resourcing issue. I don't know if you have ever tried to get Sony to fix something as a consumer....well give it a go. As the saying goes it like lalalalalalaing in the wind.

Dice/Gordon is the only person we have access to bring up issues, get feedback and help get them resolved if possible.

This is the exact problem that BFBC had. I don't know why anyone is praising DICE/EA for attempting to fix an issue that they had 1 year ago with BFBC. Just because they say they are working on their mistakes does not make the mistakes go away. Why should we praise them for saying eventually they will get their lalalala together?

The lack of preparation on DICE/EA's end is appalling. They knew this was an issue with BFBC but they did not fix it before they released 1943. Fix known issues before you release a new game, not after.

Why praise them you ask? Because Gordon is going out of his way to bring dedicated servers to the Australian region and if it wasn't for his efforts this almost certainly would have never happened. That's why it's an excellent reason be thankful and I'm sure Aussies will agree with me. I'm not even from that area but I'm happy for them.

shut up and listen to what you just said. at the end of the day, if you purchase a game thats online only multiplayer, you should be able to play the blooming thing online without lag. (if its your own connection then thats your problem obviously!) the game should be working on they're side, 100%. you dont buy a game 'hoping' that it'll work. it doesnt matter how low sales are in one region. you have to provide the customers with a working product that they bought with they're hard earned money. they obviously do market research, and with so many previous BF games over the years, you'd think that this release wouldve been a bit smoother.

Gordon,

How many servers in Fremont? My game was actually empty last night. Same issue as BFBC late night play. As soon as 1 team dominates, the other team keeps leaving. It gets boring when its 12 vs 1. I think there needs to be a way to balance the game quicker. IDK, just letting you know

Exactly the same issue with PSN and BFBC.

ANZ pays exactly the same amount for the service but because of our market size gets less service resources.

If we get less we should pay less.
