I just don't want to get suckered into buying it on the premise that there will be Australian servers to have them taken down a month or two later. All I'm asking is if the Aussie servers will stay online as long as the other regions. The price of the game doesn't have any relevance.

****ing fantastic!
That is great news. We, the players, will not dissapoint you.

But couple of questions. . .

Are our low sales based purely on sales numbers? Or was percentage of population taken into consideration?

How will we find or know we are on an Australian server? (Besides there being no lag).
Any chance of an inclusion of a region filter or something?

But once again. . . awesome

Regards. . .

Yes, they will stay up.

Hey, another question GVD. . .

Did EA/DICE have any clue how massive 1943 would be?
I mean, Im sure you knew it would be big, but this big?

Hope this means more maps from 1942

I'd say they probably would be. They would be counting the region, not country.

Its easy, if we want local servers here we have to put our money where our mouth is and actually buy and play these games....

Word of mouth people, word of mouth. If you're on a forum etc, spread the word that 1943 will now have Australian servers, hopefully people catch on and decide to buy it if they were once on the fence.....

I suspect you'd get more Australian Sales numbers if we Aussies could actually connect I've been trying for 2 days now, always "unable to connect to EA Online"

I know theres a 'fix' - and I'm waiting on EA Support to get back to me, but comon, I've never heard of such a dodgy work around (Facebreaker?!) to get it working..

But yeah, big ups for getting us AU servers, good job.

You are credit to team!

Australia loves you mate. Come down here for a holiday.

About the lows sales, people don't buy this game because of the lack of Australian servers. If we spread the word, more people will buy it. How about publicising your announcement on various Australian gamer sites?

A question. Provided Australia, NZ and the nearer Asian countries max out the capabilities of at least a handful of servers, is the cost really that much greater having that amount servers located in Australia rather than the same number of additional servers in the US instead? Economies of scale obviously comes into it, as would generally cheaper US technology prices (of course this could be imported in for not much added cost), but is it really that much more compared to the possible increase in sales? Then again, even if it is significantly more in the case of supporting just the one game, adding centralised local support for all EA games that run off of dedicated must mean that economies of scale turns the cost/sales advantage well in favor of local servers for all games, surely? I'd like to think that this is something that has been investigated thouroughly, but I fear that the numbers probably haven't really been crunched on it.

Can you shed any light on this?

To the NZ whiners, you get a ping of about 80ms to Australia, so give it a rest - the AU servers will be much better than what you're used to. Can't you just be happy that you're at least getting something?

For those who complain about Aussies paying more for a service yet get a lesser experience, do a little research into "economies of scale". Less people = higher costs. Get used to it or move to America.

Finally, to Dice, thank you for delivering Australian servers, this will go a long way in helping BF1943 to be the success that it deserves to be. I've always loved your studio, and the opening up of local servers has reinforced why. I officially offer you my first born if you set up local servers for the sheer awesomeness that will be BF:BC2.
