Fantastic news GvD. Can't wait to play on local servers.

Does this mean we have some hope for local BF:BC2 servers later this year?

Keep up the great work!

GvD, wow I'm very impressed with your efforts in getting servers for Australia. I imagine there might have been a fair few beers you needed to buy everyone before they made their decision :P

Good stuff and this will only make my experience with this game more enjoyable, congrats to you and your efforts once again, much appreciated!!!

Bloody awesome mate! Now you just need to implement half a server for NZ too (unless a few of our sheep take up playing BF:1943) & we'll all be happy!

Extra info is we will cover the capacity demand and it is servers for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
With this news I'm grabbing the game in a couple of days and will be making it known to friends that they should too. Just a question, though, if the sales do not go up in the numbers you desire will the servers come down? I'm grateful for you doing this so far but given it's a downloadable game and I can't sell it off if the servers are pulled I'd like some kind of guarantee that they'll remain online for as long as the other regions.

Dude it's US$15. While it's only half a game, any other game you bought would be at least 5 times this on release & you'd loose this much simply by trying to on-sell.

Lag is the biggest problem I have with BF:BC, but those of us that play it regularly can all confirm that it's not a constant issue & you also get pretty used to it. If it's really bad, you just quit out & find another server.

Probably the general lack of servers available in AUS for a lot of games
causes the low numbers of people willing to buy online only games.

Canada has a population of 30 million but we have nice access to US servers
so we are willing to shell of money for online games.

EA needs to get in contact with providers in AUS to get some going
and that will probably lead to an increases in sales.

Gotta spend money to make money.

1200 MS points + local servers now = excellent value for Aussies/Kiwis IMHO

It will be interesting to see how much the sales figures go up once the servers are in place. Thanks Gordon.

Wow!! this is great news GvD we really appreciate the effort that you have put in for us down here!

to all of those people in the thread saying bad things why don't you just take it elsewhere, servers in Aus is something we are quite lucky to get if you look at the attach rate in the UK it is not the obvious choice from a cost point of view to have servers here. They are running a business at the end of the day and customer satisfaction / cost is a fine line and it's far easier to argue cost than customers. thanks again Gordon.

the whole attitude of we got the servers cool, now lets bag them out about something else just sounds like a small child throwing a tantrum, this is great news <- not a tantrum

The lack of preparation on DICE/EA's end is appalling. They knew this was an issue with BFBC but they did not fix it before they released 1943. Fix known issues before you release a new game, not after.
I think you posted this in the wrong thread.

Gordon,

Can we have a couple of New Zealand servers? NZ ping to Aussie suxors. No point a lot of kiwis buying the game until we have a couple of servers.

Also can BF1943 servers for the PC be hosted by other providers????? If not why not?

BF games have a good following down here still.

Awesome!!! Appreciate this. EA is back on the xmas card list. The lag has been unbearable whenever I have played. That's disappointing about Australian sales, but I'll buy it twice if I have to!

Blah blah negativity blah...

I'll say it again, thanks so much Gordon. You went out of your way to get us dedicated servers, for an inexpensive game at that. We really do appreciate it, and I'm sure sales will agree with me when the word spreads about the smooth, extremely playable, cheap and highly fun Battlefield 1943.

Cheers.
