Good News, the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now some people can't join unless someone leaves. But don't worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.
We have also isolated the issue and improving until we have close to 0 packet loss. Please keep an eye here for updates. ************************************************** *** Update#1: We are adding new servers, this may cause some disconnection from now until 17:30. Update#2: Servers have been added, mostly in Europe, start trying to play! Update#3: We are working to increase our server capacity to almost double what it is currently. This will be complete today West Coast time. Update#4: We have full support of EA to add as many servers as takes and then some so that everyone can play. This work has already started and servers will be added around the clock with teams working to cover this 24 hours a day so not a moment is wasted. You will be able to play this game and play it lag free! Update#5: Xbox 360 will have around double the servers we have now by 4:30 PST (00:30 GMT)! This will be done in stages so please bear with us. We also increased PS3 servers before release and will keep increasing both the Xbo 360 and PS3's capacity until needs are met with enough extra for peak playing times! Update#6: Some technical issue slowed down the targeted time of the major server increase, but fear not we have increased the the server capacity and the bigger increase is going to happen. No one is sleeping or resting until it is complete. Buy stock in Red Bull because we have consumed it in liters! PS3 having less layers in it's configuration has gone smooth and server capacity is holding for now and servers still being added for the weekend spike. Update#7: With servers catching up to capacity needs we were able to confirm an issue other than capacity is affecting playing with friends. We are aggressively working on this to have it fixed ASAP and agree with comments that not being able to play with friends is unacceptable making it very important to fix. It is very unlikely to be client side and needs fixing within our network infrastructure. Update#8: Making major progress fixing play with friends, this may result in being kicked if you're playing. Also fixing your EA Online Persona logging into EA Online in Battlefield 1943 and of course adding more and more servers! Things are looking up everyone. We are also working on the issue some have with your existing account not logging into EA Online and thinking it doesn't exist. A possible workout will we sort out a proper fix is log into an EA game or Demo to help resort your login. It should never ask for the login if you have an EA account persona for your PSN ID or Xbox 360 Gamertag. Update#9: Major fixes completed fixing joining friends (confirmed myself) and Quick Matching into Servers. Things are getting better and better right now. And just in time for the weekend and this is the game to be playing this weekend. Next is large deploys of more servers since we now have the current ones running smooth! Now the question is how many kills have you got towards the community challenge? For those having issues with Logging into EA Online a fix is coming your way too. Planned roll out is aimed for 2am PST (11:00 CEST) which will correct this and allow you to log in. This will shut down connecting to Battlefield 1943 for 15-20 minutes to perform this fix. Update#10: Fix was applied to correct the error with your EA Persona to connect to EA Online and should now only ask you to accept the Term of Condition and then you're ready to play Battlefield 1943. We have increase server capacity quite a lot on both Consoles and will be adding even more this weekend so invite all your friends to play! And speaking of friends, 99% of this issue was sorted and I have been personally connecting and playing with friends on both systems with no issues. Keep in mind there can be a freak issues, but this should work a majority of the time. Update#11: We have added a huge amount of capacity to both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Except for some odd glitches in the Matrix you should have no issues connecting or connecting with friends. A lot of issues with logging into EA Online have been sorted, but there can still be some odd issues that might not be on our end. Make sure you check that these ports are open and not blocked by your home network or your ISP. Please use the below port list to confirm. TCP Ports: 80, 13020, 18280, 18285 UDP Ports: 53, 3074, 11000-11030, 18285 We will continue to work on some of the DataCenters having above normal Packet Loss that is the possible culprit for the screen freezes and will update on this later. ************************************************** *** I also want to add I have never helped lead such an extraordinary event and teams with so many people working so hard and passionately before. I know it is frustrating for you guys, but know the best best I can hope for are working on this and making things happen. This is not lip service, this is action baby! Server Locations Xbox 360: Amsterdam, Miami, Fremont CA, and Tokyo. We are adding more locations as we to spread the load of players. PS3: Amsterdam, Virginia, L.A., and Tokyo. We are adding more locations as we to spread the load of players. Fun Facts I need to share something fun and cheery now. And even though many can't get in, many have and played a lot of games already.
GvD went 43 hours of being awake working on this with only 3 hours of sleep from the night before! I'm back now after a nap and making sure more happens.

Agreed, every EA multiplayer game I've owned, which is a decent number, has launched the same way, with notes from support (maybe) that say 'OMGz we underestimated demand, hang tight while we overnight more servers from our suppliers at acme crappy servers inc."
