I'd imagine that the packets are qute small for a 24 player CoD3 game in comparison to trying to get Frostbite on P2P for 24 players, though.

I'd say wait and get the PC version and rent a server then you can start a game all by your lonesome if you wanted!

BTW GVD where are the specs for the PC version??

What happens if too many people buy the game or download the trial? Lagfest for everyone?

Coming soon, but we are still ironing out stuff before announcing. Don't want to put our foots in our mouths.

We have a plan in place to increase the servers if it sells better than expected. Which I hope for and get to use that plan I and others have invested in putting together.

I hope that plan included leaving a door open for more content to be added, like maps, possibly vehicles, etc.

Van D = oh guarenteed its gonna sell better then expected. i dunno what yer market predictions are, but id say you're gonna go 1/3rd over what ever it was. good price point, in home point of sale... you got it on lock.

you guys got the rest of the companies beat when it comes to this paradigm. the download game will be the way to go. you're gonna double yer interest in the game based on people who have never played it...

that being said, you're gonna double yer complaints by people who have never played the game before and now want more and more outta it. same as bc. same as 43 will be.

you guys got em all beat when it comes to the franchise. you just gotta beat the economy somehow. maybe i dont see it much but BF isnt really promoted that much, which is expensive i know, but when i see a BF commercial running during a tv show, itll show the market is expanding and crossing into the mainstream. i dont mean hire ozzy or mister t...

Hey GVD, thanks for the reply, I can understand emotions get a bit high at times, you make it, we ungrateful sods play it
If you did'nt make such good games, we all would'nt get so uptight at times.
Especially now as you're gonna be VERY busy promoting this and BFBC 2.
We are (well most of us anyway) very concerned with lag, we dont want a repeat of what happened after Christmas.

Thanks for reading.

So you need minimum 16 people to start private server, what is the problem? I think this is great, only if it won't affect those with 14 friends or less

Seems a fair number, for clan matches each clan should have no issues getting 8 people together.

This also weeds out padders and people wasting servers so 2-3 of them can fart about killing themselves.

Gordan, one question I have about the private matches is that in the pre and post game lobby can all players (24max) talk to one another? Also while on the subject of voice coms, in game you have a 4 person squad channel and a long time back Sibben mentioned a lone wolf or non squad voice channel was being worked on. Did that ever get implemented? The reason I ask is because for private matches with friends it would be easier having the entire team on one com channel than three separate squad channels or two XBL parties.

Lame. That was the main reason I was looking forward to 1943. Small games with a few friends. Planes be damned. I guess it's a good thing I can't get it until early August. I can hear community feedback on it after the blind hype has died down and decide whether or not to get it.

Yeah but it ain't fun with smaller numbers and big maps, unless you just want to fool around

Thanks for the reply Gordon! Really appreciate you coming down to explain to us(mainly me <_<) why it's gotta be this way. Yes, from a technical view I understand why it has to be done like that. And it's great to hear that there are "dedicated servers on the highest end hardware available". Seriously, great to hear.

But just like djsy2008 said, it will still be a bummer, that we can't get together with a few friends and mess around on a private match. Damn, no private knife matches either, unless we can get 15 more people to agree on it, lol. xD

And Killzone_Kid, maybe not fun to you, but some people still enjoy messing around with the maps, especially with the sandbox environment provided with the Frostbite engine.

wait so if you start with a full room... what if the majority leave?
if it goes under the minimum do you get red screen of no game happening?

or could you get the minimum, have a bunch leave and have yer room to do yer vids and weirdness in?

B
ps
for a second i thought it meant 12v12 max.

probably the first one. The game will kick everyone out like it is now with BFBC "minimum people required to join 3"

Good question. What happens if one guy leaves and it's just 15 players in a room? SERVER SHUTDOWN?
