This isn't down to different networks! It is down to bad lazy development. It's one of the reasons so many people hate EA. As one of the largest software developers you expect a certain quality from them.
Seeing that they have been touting Army of Two as a co-op game and it has been delayed for months, you would have thought they would have fully tested these elements of the game before release and not leave it up-to us the customer to pay for the privilege of testing their game for them. I'm realistic I can expect some bugs in games that are pushing the technology but to have fundamental aspects of the core game not work is unforgivable. ie: a co-op game where the chat doesn't work?! I am not a EA hater, I am just constantly disappointed with them. I thought they were on a new quality before quantity drive. Obviously not! |

If EA stopped region protecting their games everything would be ok for us, but no they've gotta change something.
All it takes is creating a single version of the game with all languages etc and when its put into PS3, it runs on them settings simple. And then just print seperate box art for the various regions. This in my opinion was a BIG jump for EA, from the normal crap they just dish out (give a character a few more polygons and change title to 0 im getting fed up of these lazy programmers who flood the market with inferior games. We need imagination in gaming, Army of Two is sort of getting there with some great ideas and most of all its "FUN" to play and very different from every other EA game out there. So all we ask is please fix this ASAP and fix that "cross region is not supported" crap as we can do without this. |

that's great they're going to fix the problem. so answer me this whats the point releasing a game if you don't even have the basics figured out im fed up of all the hype about these next gen games being over hyped. i mean you get 1 or 2 great games and the rest are just hyped on trailers get ur heads sorted and for once give us a decent game that works from the offset and doesn't need patches to sort out simple issues. and why is ps3 so poor when it comes to online play they been at it for years now and you can't even load multiple profiles into a game i wanted my profile and my mates when i played online but he has to settle with guest and it DON'T EVEN LOAD THE ONLINE FEATURE. im so angry with EA for missleading us STOP MESSING GAMERS AROUND ALL WE'LL JUST GO ELSE WHERE!!!!!

I see that EA are already aware of the online issue and working to rectify it.
Just a quick copy and paste from this thread The 'Army of Two' improvement topic. I'm putting this here as its for Online play. My suggestions for improvements are based around online play 1) A Lobby System - Currently to join a public coop you need to select your map/ difficulty. nice and straight forward... however say I select miami on professional... I have to wait for someone to select the same also. Now I can wait until my face turns blue. But if there was a lobby in place I could see the public co-op games still awaiting players and what map/difficulty. I'd be more than happy to join another map on professional or the same map on a difficult difficulty. Having a list of games with game type/map/difficulty/ping is plenty. You would only need a filter to swap between co-op/versus on the game type. This would speed up online tremendously and will hardly take up much server power to host the lobby system then when a game starts it can jump back into peer to peer. Now online play leads me to my next point. 2) I got this game to play online co op with my friend who also had it (will go into explain "had it" now). He bought his copy of the game off Amazon Market place (bit like ebay without the bidding) He was sent a region 3 copy of the game. Now he didnt know that was coming (expecting PAL) so he gave it a try... this required a seperate profile (fair enough different game rules i.e cant shoot bodies on the ground - thats what he said anyhow) But then the point comes to online... You cant play cross region... this may be because of the change for region 3 (cant shoot bodies). Now with the lobby system in place opening it up to the regions without the alterations (if they exist) would allow lag free gaming with the addition of a ping column (red bad, orange meh/not so great, green good, blue fantastic if you felt like including red/***blue*** agressive/passive) 3) This one has been mentioned by someone above... Persisting maps/gameplay. Removing the need to quit the game you have joined to play the next map/levels. This will also help relieve additional stress on my proposed lobby system (I'll take full credit for the lobby system :P) The rest of the stuff (maps, campaigns, armour, customisable armour (like facemasks), more facemask, guns (appearance modifications i.e. spec ops (black/camo skin) which reduces agro) I would class as DLC which would be great for the future but the 3 suggestions above I'd class as improvements to the game right now rather than in the future. **Edit** 4) My friend has an SD tv which we have been doing split screen co-op on until he gets his copy. The text is practically unreadable for checkpoint kill/money counters and also text for missions and so on. The online menu's/selections are also practically unreadable... So that is something for improvement which I'm sure the SD users will appreciate (p.s. looks fab on my HD Telly) **End Edit** Thanks for listening and I hope you take my suggestions and build and improve upon them if needed. I'll see you on the Battlefield! TheRook21 PSN Name feel free to add me for army of two goodness... (with the capitals on T and R) - This offer is also extended to EA Employees if you would like a thrashing at you own game )EA please feel free to contact me on my PSN/ via my email for job offers. I'm 24 and a Java Developer very willing to C++ etc and living in Brighton (East Sussex - UK (not the one in Cornwall ))

Anyway, after getting BT to replace my entire phoneline (yeah... from the telegraph pole outside upto (and including) the master socket in the house) it improved my connection significantly (by 600Kb/ps down) however this game still lagged like hell. Thanks alot for tanking my money EA. |
