IM "ZHAR"RY, BUT NABIL HAS GONE TO SOUTHAMPTON

Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar has joined Championship side Southampton today, agreeing terms on a 3 year deal with a fee of £300,000, all behind Rafa Benitez' back. Benitez didn't want to sell the youngster, but when he failed to turn up for training, he went to Rick Parry's office, and he admitted that he sold El Zhar, and he said,

"I'm sorry, but Nabil El Zhar has left Liverpool to join Southampton"

It is thought Rafa won't appeal to have this overturned, but he is bitterly dissapointed that yet again, he didn't have control over his transfers.

Southampton also made a few failed bids for a number of players. First, there was Joe Lewis, Peterborough's Goalkeeper, who had been a subject of a £115,000 bid from The Saints, but the offer was knocked back. The other failed transfer, was of Pierre De Wit. The commanding central midfielder's club, VFL Osnabruck rejected a £103,000 offer, branding it way below there evaluation of him.

Southampton also offloaded 3 players. Paul Wotton joined Blackpool for £163,000, Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis has joined Crystal Palace for £115,000, and young striker Adam Lallana has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers for £120,000
