Could pretty well be it, distance to the station where your line comes in is very important.. 50m or less is perfect.. above 1 km you really start to notice.. before we moved we were almost 2 km from the station.. we had broadband 800kB/s down 100 kB/s up.. in theory.. Real numbers were more like 200 kB/s down and 55 kB/s up
Now were only 30m away and we even exceed our speed limit sometimes..
So yeah it does makes a big difference.. you can try getting fiber.. distance shouldn't really matter then ^^ but its really expensive to get a fiber connection to your home if there isnt any yet.. (they have to break up the street ect)
