^Lloris in training after joining Man United^
On the Man United website, Man United has confirmed the singing of both Hugo Lloris and Gerard Pique. Both deals were completed at around 7 PM after the FA Community Shield.
Lloris has joined for a fee of £7,500,000 and will earn £20,000 a week. He has signed a contract for up to 4 years and is the likely successor of Edwin Van Der Sar. The French keeper is a bright young talent. He is only 24 and has played for Nice and Lyon. He made 77 appearances for Nice and has been Lyon’s first choice keeper for 4 years now. He has made 20 appearances for France.
Also Gerard Pique has rejoined Man United after leaving for Barcelona 4 years ago. The fee was undisclosed but is rumoured to be in the region of £5 million. The Spaniard has signed for 5 years and is one of United’s promising young stars. Pique made 22 appearances for United in his last spell but only scored 2 goals. Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say about Pique “He is a very good player and will go from strength to strength because of playing in the Premier League. We never wanted him to leave last time but he said that he thought that Barcelona was where he could get more playing time. But He has struggled to get into the side ahead of Milito and Marquez.”
Man United have also rejected bids for Guastavino, De Falco and Modric. We caught up with Sir Alex so that we could found out more about the decision. “We didn’t accept the offers for Guastavino and De Falco because we do not want to sell some our good players to our rivals. Chelsea offered more than we wanted for De Falco but we just couldn’t accept it and the same with ManCity’s bid for Guastavino. Wigan put in a bid of £10 million for Modric but we want more for him but if Wigan raises their offer we will accept.”
