It's usually one or the other, hardly ever both as that is just too harsh.
Juve - United 1999 semi final, Dwight yorke goes to round the keeper Peruzzi, gets brought down, looks to be a straight red and a penalty but Andy Cole came and tapped the ball in. Fair call, no red and United take the goal.
Arsenal - Barca CL final. Lehmann brings down Eto'o I think it was and someone else put the ball in the empty net, Ref opted to send off Lehmann and bring play back.
Either way common sense shows it should just be one or the other, but as the defending side you prob want to avoid the red card. So in the game my advice is if you're gonna hack at a last man make sure you bring him down so there isn't gonna be an advantage!
