I'm running windows vista. Does that have anything to do with it?

When using Vista you need to launch Spore by double clicking the
Spore icon in the Games Explorer (
Start > Games). Alternatively, you can start Spore by double clicking the
SporeApp.exe that can be found in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin. You do not need the DVD in the drive once you have installed Spore.

Please help ? ? I want to get back to my game

-In Games my performance rating is 3.2 and spores minimum is 3
-I did nothing inbetween the time i first played it and tried to play again other than shutting down the comp

Check whether you are starting Spore correctly as above, if you are I would suggest contacting Support.
