Man United got off to a bad start that set the tone for the rest of the match. After the goal Wigan defended in numbers but United still caused them loads of Problems.
Rooney nearly equalised a couple of minutes later but his header didn’t hit the back of the net. It hit the crossbar. United kept on pressurising Wigan but couldn’t get that goal. For the last 10 minutes Fergie brought on Nani and Scholes for Giggs and Anderson. It turned out to be a brilliant move because in the 87th minute Ronaldo cut in played a ball into Nani and he got in front of his marker and as calm as you like just flicked it into the net.

Vidic had no choice but to bring Kapo down and he was already on a Yellow and was sent off. From the free Rooney intercepted and chipped the ball over the defence to Tevez he was one-on-one with Kirkland but he managed to save it and Wigan managed to win.
