They may not be the most popular men at Anfield, but they own Liverpool FC and are also Co-chairman of the club. They are both billionaire businessman with a flair for making whole clubs hate them.
Manager: Rafael Benitez
When ‘Rafa’ arrived from Valencia some wondered how he would do after Gerard Houllier. Two UEFA Champions Leagues finals and an FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Super cup later he is one of the favourite sons of Anfield, and has the most famous motif beard. He recently underwent surgery for kidney stones, which were removed successfully.
Assistant Manager: Sammy Lee
Born and bred in Liverpool, Sammy played almost 200 times for the team from Merseyside and took to the field for 14 English caps. In 2007 he made his big break as a manager when he became the head of Bolton Wanderers, and in the offseason this year he was announced as the new assistant manager to Rafa Benitiez. He is a proven manager.
Reserve Team Manager: Gary Ablett
Gary Ablett made a sentimental return to Liverpool in July 2006 when he took over as the club's reserve team manager. The former left-back succeeded Paco Herrera, and within two years had led the second string to the league title. One of Ablett's duties is to nurture Academy graduates, as well as the plethora of foreign and English youngsters brought to Melwood under Rafa Benitez.
First Team Coach: Maurico Pellegrino
Mauricio Pellegrino began his second stint at Anfield in July 2008 when he was appointed first-team coach. Having been signed by Rafa Benitez as a player in 2005, the former defender now aids the Rafalution from behind the scenes. He is favourite with the lads at Melwood and a Hales fave.
Reserve Coach and Head of Technical Analysis : Angel Vales
Angel joined the backroom staff in the summer of 2007 as head of the technical and video analysis department at Melwood and as reserve team coach. His work involves both the first and reserve team squads and a typical day at Melwood will see him divide his time working with both Rafael Benitez and Gary Ablett.
Fitness Coach: Paco de Miguel
Paco De Miguel is the first-team fitness coach based at Melwood. His main role is to devise and implement a fitness plan to keep the senior players in top condition throughout the season.
Goalkeeping Coach: Xavi Valero
Xavi Valero is responsible for coaching first-team goalkeepers at Melwood.
Although Rafa Benitez likes his 'keepers to work alongside outfield players in training, Xavi also carries out specialised sessions with each of the club's stoppers.
Chief Scout: Eduardo Marcia
Eduardo Macia joined the Liverpool backroom team in the summer of 2006 after deciding to leave Valencia for a new challenge. The Spaniard is chief scout for the club and is responsible for scouring the footballing world for players with both the potential and character required to play for the Reds.
Club Doctor: Mark Waller
A Liverpool fan since moving to the city from Northamptonshire in 1977, Dr Mark Waller heads up the club's medical department and is responsible for the medical care of the first team squad at Melwood. This involves the prevention and treatment of injuries and any ongoing rehabilitation for any injured player. He also has a major input into the dietary intakes of the first team squad. He travels with the team to all games, attends home reserve matches and is also doctor for the England Under-21 international side.
Kit Manager: Graham Carter
Graham Carter is responsible for the first team's kit in training and matches. He travels to every senior game home and abroad, ensuring Gerrard and co have everything they need.
