With Richards and Dunne on his back it looked like Berbatov could go any where but he quickly turned and beat both defenders before smashing the ball into the top corner.
He completed his hat-trick in the 28th minute. Ronaldo crossed the ball into the box and Rooney flicked it to the back post and Berbatov nodded it into the net.
Rooney got a controversial goal in the 37th minute when Rooney blocked Joe Hart’s dropkick and just tapped the ball into an empty net. Berbatov added another just before half-time with a header to and Ronaldo scored another one just on the stroke of half-time when he slid the ball under Hart. Man United went into half-time with a 6-0 lead.
Johnson managed to pull one back for City from a corner. He headed it right into the top corner of the net and soon after Jo scored another consolation goal when he got onto the end of a long ball and volleyed it past Van Der Sar
Rooney then restored United’s 5 goal lead in the 72nd minute when he got one-on-one with the goalkeeper and smashed it past him. The game ended 7-2 to United.
