Aaron Ramsey: "I Can Be Arsenal's Steven Gerrard"
Cesc Fabregas is the newly-appointed Arsenal captain, but it's Steven Gerrard whom Gunners youngster Aaron Ramsey is modelling himself on.
The 17-year-old is set to line up for the young Guns as they take on Burnley on Tuesday in the Carling Cup. It could be a tricky test, as the Championship-dwelling Clarets eliminated a strong Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge in the last round.
Fearless attacking midfielder Ramsey, though, is hoping to make an impact in the competition and start to show just why Arsene Wenger shelled out some £5 million to Cardiff City for him in the summer.
Ramsey, forcing his way into the first team picture step-by-step and on the fringes of the Welsh national team, is relishing every minute of his rookie season in the Emirates goldfish bowl.
"I am really enjoying it," he told the Daily Mail, "It has been a big learning curve since I joined, but I already feel as if I have learned a lot here.
"I play with world-class players in every day and it helps."
Citing a surprising external influence on his game, he continued: "I like to attack, I like to get forward and join the strikers when I can. I have always liked the way Steven Gerrard plays and I have tried to model myself on him and his game.
"Now, I want to make myself an established first team player for Arsenal.
"The Carling Cup helps. We are not fazed by the big occasion and, if we stick to the football we know we can play against Burnley, that will hopefully get us through."
Boss Arsene Wenger added of the starlet: "He is a player who has personality and a fantastic engine.
"He does not hide, has good vision and I believe he will be a very big player in the future."
Do you think he has the potential?
I think there is a chance for him to become a big player but it remains to be seen
