Unfortunately the best guess is that the Grox have more like 6000 systems, often with multiple planets, and unless you raise all the planets in a system to T1+, they can come back (I must have cleared out nearly 1000 Grox systems already, and there's still a lot of red nearby - I'm fighting out of the core to link up with my original empire). Add in the fact than some Grox systems are simply out of range of your furthest jump distance, and its rather less trivial to wipe them out than you make out. There
are ways to do it (one guy on here has done it), but there's more to it than just bombing cities or terraforming.
