But if both versions work, our wonderful friend Google (and other search engines - apparently they exist!) decides that you have 2 versions of your site with duplicate content, which is why a decision should always be made, and all requests to the "wrong" URL silently redirected.
I've taken the decision to redirect all
http://www.* requests to
http://*, just because it seems like the most sensible choice. Digg does it, Twitter does it, Pownce does it, every decent company does it.
MySpace and Google force the
www., but then Google is a pretty old fashioned company and MySpace has never done anything right.
www. is deprecated.
