Actually, this is possible - you can use
xpadder to assign movements on a joystick to the A,W,S,D keys (and maybe some other functions to the other joystick buttons), then you can move with a joystick (obviously a regular joystick used for flying games etc., not a gamepad) and pass/shoot with a mouse
