Ok I realise I should probably have set up a static IP address fir my PS3 but I tried to open all the ports listed in the manual on my router using my laptop.

I didn't do anything for a couple of hours as I was watching a film, but afterward my laptop wouldn't connect to the internet and when I logged into my router it said that I was not connected to the internet. I erased all the port forwarding stuff I had done before and the internet immediately began to work.

So was there something I did wrong? do I need to allocate the opening of ports to a specific device ie my PS3? The only option I can change is for a Server IP, I figured this must be the same as the router address!?
