PR is not trying to bring attention to their mod through this petition. The mod has had enough attention already. Right now it is THE most played BF2 mod and was voted second place by MODDB.com's Mod of The Year. Also, PR has just released their 0.8 version and the player/server population has spiked dramatically, so much so that it rivals even the 0.5 version release. We can see the server/players here:

Servers playing BattleField 2 | Server / Player Search | Game - Monitor . COM

Also, PR isn't looking for everyone to play the mod because PR isn't for everyone. It takes more than mouse clicking skills to enjoy PR and a lot of people hate PR for that. In short, PR is really looking for Quality over Quantity

I think we all understand BF2 is old and some of the patches, especially 1.3 were major failures. However, I think most of us now understand that how "good" a patch was depends on your perspective and your playing style. I.E. if you like being medic or sniper, 1.41 is your paradise. Also, yes the game has major problems but the severity of the problem again depends on perspective. Also, most of us if not all can agree that if we take a step back and look at BF2 as a whole, though it could have been better, it's one of the BEST games made and there's really not much games like it (despite all the posers).

Regarding the patch, I'm sure we all realize this but it is not out yet and probably won't be out for a while. Thus there's plenty of time for the petition before the 1.5 patch.

I'm rather optimistic regarding the patch, it promises anti-hack measures and IIRC Dice/EA were actually asking for requests/feedback regarding to 1.5 patch. Last time they did this was 1.4/1.41 patch, which was what we could call one of their better patches. Of course there's always going to be cheaters, they are cockroaches that we can't exterminate. However, this hasn't stopped people from playing BF2. There's still plenty of servers active and ton of players. I don't know if majority of them are hacked but most of the servers I've played were fine, hacking is definantly a problem but as an BF2 junkie I don't think it's killing the game. Again BF2 is one of those unique games that others try to imitate but cannot. IMO BF2 might last another year or two depending on what games are comming out.

In conclusion, because BF2 still have sometime before it finally rests in peace, so let us sign the petition and see how far it will go. If it succeeds, we the BF2 community well benefit. If it fails, we've lost nothing but 5 seconds of our time.
