We the regular BF2 can benefit from this change as well, larger maps such as Kruba Dam, Fushe, and Tampa would be played the way they were supposed to be played. IIRC, BF2 was originally going allow 128 players battle it out and the larger maps I've mentioned were originally designed for 128 players. Of course they changed that due to the incapability of the server technology at the time but this has changed now.
The changes to player size and squad size would also bring improved gameplay. If being in the thick heat with enemies that could pop out any second like on maps such as Karkand or Jalalabad is your style, then 114 player will bring such game play. It well make the larger maps more popular as there's more action now other than watching jets flying over head.
If you are into clans, teamwork and coordination, the 8 man squad will allow you to actually give you enough people to work with to come up with effective tactics instead of run n' gun. It would also allow you to possibly have a squad with every kit present, making your squad more effective and the gaming experience more fun.
Once again, I emphasize that the person before said. Servers don't HAVE to run 114 player slots, they could run any number of players below the limit. And if some of us don't want to play with 114 people then they have the choice of not to.
What this petition REALLY brings if successful is more freedom and choices to the players in regards to the way they use the product they've spent their money on. More choices are always better (unless we are all communist dictators fearing rebellions)
