Right. There are a few balance issues that are almost universally viewed as needed fixing (f35 and g36e). Those few things, bug fixing and anticheat measures should be the priority.
But I can't resist making my own wish list.
Its a short one too. -- Give the
PR and POE mods ranked status. They are both mature, well tested, polished, bug free, and fun. Giving the mods the legitimacy of being ranked would encourage more people to try them and (assuming they are as popular as I think they would be) the ranked server rentals would go up again.
Ranked server payments is easy money. The only downside to reinvigorating BF2 would be the potential loss of revenue from newly released games. But it doesn't sound like Dice will be releasing anything for the PC for a while, so that shouldn't be an issue.
I don;t know what sort of legal mumbo-jumbo would be needed from the mod teams, but I would imagine they would jump at the chance to have their hard work exposed to a larger audience.
So, with very little effort on Dice's part, you could introduce a whole slew of new maps and weapons, and new game modes and styles of play.
Sounds like a win-win to me, eh?
