I hope this is not against the forum rules, cant really see why it should be but anyway.

My friend is as ****ed as i am for the max 3 time activation and the rootkit so what he did was this, he bought the game from a local store and then he downloaded the game over internet and installed this version using the real key that he has bought. Now he can both play online (atleast he could connect to his account) and at the same time no bloody virus on his pc

Thinking of doing the same thing next week. Does anyone know if this will limit the online gaming in anyway? Securom as i understand does not affect the online gaming but i might be wrong?
His "friend" downloaded the reload release of spore and used his legitimate key during install, after the install completed he used the crack packed with the downloaded version to bypass the games activation.

Since he has a legit key it successfully verifies with EA and the sporepedia, since he has the crack he never has to activate. Simple, really.

Wrong. It isn't, it never is. Need I remind you that EULAs also do not stand up in court? Right so you are claiming these forums are spreading tracking cookies.... sure...

Not really, its more of a grey area. All he did is download an image of the dvd and used something to bypass the protection which would hinder him from otherwise playing. Hes only doing it to access what he paid for which is actually allowed under fair use. As for your point on antiviral programs interfering and sending info back to the developers, purely moot at best.

For a start you can stop them sending info back, 2nd even if it did it only sends back patterns of items which act suspiciously back, not a whole copy of your data, that would take so much time and bandwidth it would be stupid. More so which you rather have scanning your harddrive a greedy company who wants to put your PC on lockdown because you MIGHT pirate something or a company who spots suspicious activity help prevent against further threats to your PC? The choices the choices...
