My CD key has got a registry entry with the Galactic Edition, but it still won't accept the key. Might be only for those who downloaded the game, but the creature creator serial is there. (downloaded) Try searching the ENTIRE registry, and also make sure to search for the key without hyphens. (55443322 instead of 5544-3322)
I failed my first search because it didn't go through the entire registry.
