I've played fighting Commander nearly 80% of the times that I've gone Commander. I've won nearly 10,000 games now, with a win to loss of well over 2:0.

So long as you don't let the fighting distract you from other duties, it can be done.

If you sat-track and see that the entire enemy team are all covered by your UAV, then further spotting is a waste of time, and so you're better off doing something like laying mines or sniping while the UAV is up and all the other command assets are re-charging.

Only KAIN has more Commander-points than I do, and from all my commanding experience I can say that Commanders who never fight are missing opportunities to help both themselves and their teams a little bit more.
