Try not to exaggerate eh?
Premiership football clubs have scouting networks operating across Europe and beyond. Just because
you personally have only ever seen him play 3 matches doesn’t mean to say that his talent has been sported long before that. Perhaps his performance at Euro2008 was enough to persuade Spurs that he might be worth investing in?
Nobody is saying he’s one of the words greatest players, they’re your words trying to exaggerate as per usual.
Hand on heart I personally haven’t seen anything from the player other than what he did in Switzerland and Austria this summer, but from what I saw he looks a good player, whether he’s worth £12m-£14m remains to be seen but if Liverpool are willing to pay nearly £20m for a player he wasn’t capable of playing a full 90 minutes after Xmas last season or United nearly £25m for a player whose clearly not mentally stable then what Spurs are spending looks isn’t going to break the bank is it?

Be realistic. Keane won’t get 30 goals, so why set targets like that?
