I think it's a good idea, I'm just stuck on this payment thing. I can't see why they need to get paid for this service.

Great Idea = More Sales of Fifa09
More Sales = More Money.

Is it that much extra work?

First of all there are only 6 leagues being updated.
Secondly EA actually save themselves work for the next Fifa because they'll already have an up-to-date database of the top 6 leagues.
Thirdly I already pay full price for a game that is basically an update (albeit a very good one) of the previous year. It's not as if they reinvent the wheel every year.

Don't ditch the idea, just make it free.

The thing that annoys me the most is that I'm probably going to buy the updates, because, like everyone else, I want the game I play to be as good as it can be.
