i'm not sure if i can comment. tbh i'm getting very pi**ed off with people complaining about a game they haven't played yet. I've seen all the vids i've been able to find, i've read many many articles on it, and i feel i know the game pretty much as well as anyone who hasn't actually played it yet.
I'm not saying the civ and tribe phases are going to be really complex, i have a strong feeling they wont be, but to know whether it all works as a whole yet and it is FUN TO PLAY (which is the important thing) then i dont think you, or i can comment as yet.
i've played a hell of a lot of RTS's and, do you know what i've decided? to find a decent immersive and fun RTS you need to go back to C&C, you need to replay AoE and even (dare i say it) the original (thats right, the original) warcraft. Do you know what all these games have in common? they were all simple. They didnt have loads of frilly bits to get in the way of good hard honest game play. And that is what i want from spore.
Having been playing TW:M for the last 6 months or so, i can honestly say, the city management sucks in it, it irritates me that i have to do all the little things, and yeah sure there are AI driven governers, but they always f**k everything up!
I'm not saying complicated is a bad thing, i'm also not saying i dont like complicated, done well it can be brilliant, but what i want from a game playability, and given spores scope, to make the whole game play well, they had to keep things a little simple in places. i'd rather simple done well. than complicated done badly.
