First of all, SPORE is a great game! But why do you make it so kind of simple in the tribe and civilization stage?
What i mean is it should be more "comlicated", like this stages could be like:
- real time strategy, like Command and Conquer Generals plus
- like construction and management simulation like Sim City 4 plus
- like political simulation like Europa Universalis III.
So why dont you make it like this? Is it:
- too complicated to develop?
But there are really many games of this genre i just called few of them above, so there is enough ideas "how it should be like"
- too "heavy" for our hardwear because there are like 100000 of planets in galaxy (or a couple of galaxies) where all of the things above have to be simulated simultanely?
But, first all the 3d graphical things could be only realized there "where the player actually is" and also the economical and diplomatical calculations could be smiplisifized to a minimal number of calculations. Only there where you act you get all the complicity of the game to see and on all othere places just the most trivial calculations needed. Just look at Europa Universalis III, it doesnt have heavy 3d graphict but very many factors, but neverthenless its engine doesnt need a power pc or something like that
- just too "complicated" so the players just wont play it?
Well, i just say no, such kinda game is more a feature.
And if someone says it is too complicated and not interestig, first in the game could be some elements like things or creatures which make things for you like managing politics, economics etc. this things or creatures (like managers, politicians etc) you can get/buy when you got some points in the game allowing doing it. This means when you at some point have [B]"orginazed"[B] something like first one city than your country and than your planet you dont need to do all the small things manually and can go on.
And second, there could be an opportunity tu shut up all the "complicated" opiniost in options menue.
